The word "free"

... seems to be the biggest marketing tool in any business :pac:

    take for example:

    - "free to join" ... I join but it costs to use the website (urgh) -
    - "This game is FREE!" - when you trade in 3 games* (* = games that are worth something second hand and worth more than the actual price of said original game) urgh ...

    I could go on :pac:

who else is tired of the "free" claims businesses and companies make?
oh and share your own examples :pac:

Free gift is one of the worst one's, if it wasn't free it wouldn't be a gift
    that's a tautology though

I hate when some Ebayers have free shipping but simply claw back the cost of the shipping by adding it on to the asking price of the goods
Do they think we're stupid or wha'?

It's one of those buzz words. Some car company in america was selling cars at "half price". He sold none.

When he changed it to "buy one get one free" they all sold out.

I rarely bother to take notice of "free" stuff advertised. It's nothing more than a marketing ploy to lure you into checking out the product/service.
If it didn't say "free" not many people would look it's way.

they actually lose out doing that since ebay get a cut of their final sale price

the sensible thing to do is offer the product at a super low price but have a completely ridiculous shipping charge
