    Alright lads and lassies

Tried looking for an answer on the relevant websites - couldn't find it however. I was wondering is it possible to attain a full Australian driving licence while on a WHV if you only have an Irish provisional?

    Cheers :)

Simple answer - No, getting a full licence in Australia (state to state differs) takes more than a year.

    You go from L -> P1 -> P2 etc

Here is a link for sydney
    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/gettingalicence/car/index.html

Even with a full Irish licence you can only get a full Australian one after 3 years experience
    Less than 1 year a P1
    less than 3 years a P2
then only can you be granted a licence

What level on the scale would an Irish provisional with 2 years driving experience entitle you to?
What do you need as proof of those two years driving?

Irish provisional licence gives you nothing here, as far as I know.
    Full licence or nothing

It might ...get you a learners in vic.

You then chalk up a log book of 120 hours accompanied driving.
Then take test get P1's [with restrictions + limited pionts]
The drive for a year on them get P2's [With limited pionts]
Then get after 2 years on P2's get Full licence.

So A years WHV no longer makes it possible.

What you could see is if the IRISH Provisional lets you go for your P1 and you may be able to swap that back in Ireland for a Full Irish.

NB I have no idea how the Irish backdated system has changed.

Cheers, probably just a case of going into an RTA office and seeing what they say I presume.
