    Hey all,
I have a problem with my H&K 416, it has a loose connection somewhere. I've traced the problem back to the main body of the gun, I've everything I can taken off and this is what I have left.

I'm looking to take out the rest of of it, is there anyway to open it up more for me to go to the get at the wiring...

I dont think youre going to have a problem opening it up, its putting it back together and working, thats when its gonna get hairy.

Where are you based mate? Do you Know anyone who knows how to repair AEGs etc. I.E a retailer?

I'd recommend getting some know how

Before you take anything more apart check yer fuse and check
the initial battery to aeg connection. if that fails start tracing the issue
back along the wiring (if you reckon the issue is in the wiring and not something else) I've loads of guns (60-70 maybe more) being a collector first and a skirmisher last and not afraid to poke at them, not once even a single time have I ever had a wiring or fuse problem with anything in my collection.

Recently stripped down an M4 series gun myself Have since stripped it down more but at time of posting I had got this far:
    (HK416/M4/M16/M15 same thing bodywise)

I've checked the battery and traced back the wiring and checked the different connections with a multimeter and got no resistance spike when checking the red wire between the two points shown in the pic (red circles). So I'm guessing that i may have pinched the wiring somewhere when putting it back together after taking it apart.

You will need to pull the trigger to close the trigger contacts to get continuity across the red cable where you have the two circles drawn. Other wise it is an open circuit.

    Check the battery.
    Check the battery connectors.
    Check the fuse.
Check the connectors for the wiring to the gearbox.
Check the motor tabs (if they bend very easily - they're probably broken).
Check that the cables aren't shorting anywhere.
    Isolate individual cables and test.**
Test all those first and find the issue - if it is definitely not any of those you probably have a carbon build up on the trigger contacts, the trigger contacts could have melted, the motor could be dead. If you get a crazy high resistance reading - you have corroded cable.

    **not necessarily in that order**

I checked most of that stuff, my dads an electrician by trade to he helped out, all the connections are ok as is the fuse, just wondering if the wire is pinched anywhere inside the housing where i can't see it. I've ruled out all the other wiring so by logical conclusion the problem was in the housing but now wondering if it was a loose connection to the motor cos they came off very easy.

Must have another go at it tomorrow, too late to do it now going to bed, work in the morning...

well unles you've pinched a really small part. you probably would not have been able to put it back together properly..

Thats true, wasn't at it the weekend was down at the golf or working but instead of taking it apart further I mite just connect it the bits to test the connections and see if that works
