How cold is water from a fridge?

We just got a new Samsung American fridge freezer. While it works fine, the water doesn't seem much, if any, colder then it does from the tap. The ice maker is working fine. My question is, is the water from the water dispenser supposed to be cold? Or at least, significantly colder than from the sink tap?

Yes, there should be a noticeable difference. We don't have a Samsung but I've just tested ours and there's a marked difference between the dispenser and the cold tap.

Have you had a look at the manual to see if there's a setting you can change?

One quick solution is to place a container of water in the fridge and it'll be about 3 degrees :)

thanks for the test, jprboy. I was thinking it should be colder alright. I've checked the manual , and there's no mention of any way of setting the temp of the water alone. The freezer and fridge can be adjusted, but no setting affects the water. Think I'll give Samsung a call.

Lol. mike65. I could do that, but after paying for a fridge that is supposed to deliver cold water, I'd be defeating the purpose.

    What's the model?
It might need a recall, check here www.samsung.com/ie/homevisit/

we have one, but it's got a digital temperature thing for the fridge & freezer.

the fridge is at 1 degrees celcius and the freezer is at -25 degrees, but only because that's what it's set at.

the water comes out nice and frosty anyways. :)

EDIT: lol, ours is the exact one in the picture on the samsung website. :D

It's not in the recall list. I'm waiting for Samsung to get back to me.

Yup we have one also and the water IS COLDER in the fridge..

The ice maker stopped working though as NO WATER is being fed to the unit for some reason.. (Its been about a month now)

Not sure how a Samsung chills the water but my Whirlpool takes it's feed from the mains and the pipe passes into the fridge and is coiled in the bottom of the fridge section before passing to the dispenser - only the water in the coiled pipe is chilled and the coil couldn't hold much more than a litre or two.

So in my case if I take 2 litres of water from the dispenser then the water from the mains that passes into the coiled section will take some time to chill otherwise it will (obviously) be the same temperature as the mains.

Check the bottom of the refrigerator compartment and see if you have a similar coil.
