So I recently joined the gym and have changed my diet as follows.

    Morning:
2 Wheatabix with low fat milk. A banana. A hard boiled egg on some wholegrain toast if I have time.

    Lunch:
130g Tuna( the one in sunflower oil because it tastes good!) on wholegrain bread as a sandwich. An Apple and maybe a little snack like special K mini breaks if i'm a bit more peckish. Usually I'm stuffed after all that tuna and the apple.

    Dinner:
This varies as I live at home and could be anything. But on average we have potatoes, pork/steak/chicken, with veg like cabage/carrots/peas...etc We mostly eat healthy dinners. The odd time we have a treat like tacos or fajitas. Which don't seem too unhealthy? Just a bit of meat and salad in pita bread/taco. I know...the sauce is the unhealthy part..

    Gym(around 7 in the evening 3-4 times a week):
Then I go to the gym. Have a banana beforehand for some energy. Drink Plenty of water throughout and then I have a protein shake which contains 40g of protein.
Roughly, my gym routine is 30 mins cardio for warm up, then weights for upper body and arms and ab work to finish.

    Evening Snack(Yay or nay?):
Is this a sin? I'm usually a little bit peckish after the gym/before bed time. I recently have been having a couple of cracottes with some philadelphia cheese and maybe a bit of ham? Is this stupid? Is there something else I should be snacking on? Something a bit healthier? Or do I cut this out completely and just have a few nuts and a piece of fruit?

I'm just looking for someone(with experience who is fit and has a 6 pack) to advise me on what I'm doing correctly/incorrectly...etc
Any tips? What to add to my diet? What to loose?
I've read so much stuff on the internet about what to eat before/after the gym. Some say have protein before? Is this just the marketing scam of Protein companies?
Should you have a protein shake every morning?
I do believe we need protein after a workout for muscles to get repaired, it makes sence! But before?

    I'm 21, male, 70kgs.

    Thanks
