Thinking of getting a new car..

Hi Everyone,

I want to get a new car & I was thinking of the

Seat Leon

or

Skoda Fabia

From the years 2006 to 2011, preferable year 2008.
Engine size from 1.1 - 1.4 max.

Has anyone had any of these cars & are they good?

Any help would be appreicated!

Between the two then I would have the Leon

If you're buying the Leon at a max of 1.4 make sure it's the 1.4 tsi with the 6 speed box. You're only asking for trouble with the 5 speed 1.4 (and 1.6).

Seat is the un-ironic Skoda, and the fabia is a lardy mess visually.

What's the criteria?

I saw these in a garage & they were the best value I saw that day so I thought I'd ask around & see if there any good.

I'm looking for a hatchback type car. With an engine size of 1.1 -1.4 max, The year I would like the younger the better so from a 2006 up! Would really prefer a 2008.

Milage I want it under 60,000 KM.

The price range would be around 7,000.


What cars do you think I could get for those?

Why 1.1 - 1.4 ?
Low Tax or is it just expensive insurance?
If insurance is not a stop get the 1.4 TSI version or 2.0 TDI.

I want to keep my tax & insurance down thats why I want a 1.1 -1.4 max.

On 2008 cars it's based on CO2 emissions not engine size so with a 2.0 TDI your road tax might be exact same as a 1.4 or even 1.2 back in 2007.

CO2 emissions tax is only on motors regristered after 1 July 2008 unless it is an import. the first half of 2008 is based on engine size

No it is not.
Jan 1st ~Jul 1st 2008 can be taxed either by engine size or by emissions.
