ACCA, quick question

    So I'm starting ACCA with BPP next month, I'm just wondering how many would people recommend doing at one time;

I ha planned on groups of 3, but I'm not so sure about the more difficult papers.

I am certainly doing F1-F3 together,

But after that I had planned on groups of three as in:

    F4-F6
    F7-F9
    P1-P3
    Two option papers

Meaning I would complete the course in 2.5 to 3 years.

Am I being too optimistic with this plan? Should I take two per term?

I'm studying part time by the way and I work in the city centre so it's no issue studying on buses, at home, and at weekends. I will be determined to put all else on hold during term and exam time.

Thanks in advance for all your help. Easily the most helpful forum on boards!

It's probably doable, but just know you will be stretching yourself. Would you have been good academically or good at exams in general... I think this will indicate whether you are able to do 3. I did f1-f3 in one sitting, all CBE, was great, you found result straight away. Then did f4-f5 last sitting. Hard to say, I prob could have done f4-f6 if i really pushed it, but i work, have a baby, and am not really in a rush.

I have another friend, and she failed F1 twice, and was doing just one at a time, she just would never have been good at exams.

    Good luck with it

    Hi Starfish,

Thanks for your reply, I'm actually thinking at the moment I could probably do F1-F3 and F4-F6 in my first two terms, then switch to two exams per term after that.

But one thing I'm concerned about - is it okay to sit F9 and P1 in the same exam period?

If this isn't possible I may attempt three per session until the professional exams, and switch to two at that point.

To answer question I have always been quite good at sitting exams and retaining information. Thanks again

You can take your final F exams and P exams in the same session.

The exams do not need to be taken in order although there are some restrictions as to eligibility. I'd try and schedule them so as you have at least a day off between the exams, taking subjects on consecutive days should be avoiding if at all possible after F1-3.

Thanks sb, I'll be avoiding doing them all in order!

    Hi optimistic.

    Just saw your thread.

I think your idea for doing 3 exams per session up to f6 is very reasonable but from f7 i suggest you to take on only two exams in each term.

According to my experience it will get a bit difficult to do 3 exams in one go after f6 cos in F7 u have financial reporting and in F8 you have Audit and Assurance complete Theoretical subject with lots of studies and understandings so you will need too much for these exams that's you should go for 2 exams each term after f6.

and congrats for choosing for such a brilliant study center i also study in Bpp and found it the best college for ACCA.

Best of luck for your studies and Exams.

That's a very reassuring post, thanks! I plan to enrol next Monday directly at BPP office in Lad Lane.

Would it be very detrimental to miss a lecture early on for F3? I ask as I am due to be away on a particular Saturday that a lecture takes place, I can cancel but I'd really like to enjoy one last weekend before heading back into the head down mode.

    Thanks again

For F1 through F3 I'd really consider just buying the books and doing it self study especially if you are financing it yourself. With the CBE you can do it one subject at a time for a month to six weeks then take the exam and go onto the next. If you're in Dublin CC go into Hodges Figges and at least look at the books they stock Kaplan which is very good for these exams.
