    Hi

The below video below should help:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/TheISMNationwide#p/u/14/zdVoy3SUJ5Y

I would suggest having a nice relaxing drive around with your instructor the lesson before your test. A mock test will only get you tense and worked up. Yes they can help you get used to the silence of the test environment but are of limited value IMO:)

All the best with your test and hope to see you posting in the successful thread:)

if you've never reversed around a corner or done a 3 point turn I think it'd be more in your line to get a lesson beforehand rather than a pre test...

or at least get someway to practice these first...

Madma, I took my test there yesterday and passed it. I have only been driving just over a year as well so was in the very same boat as you are now!!

This is what I done to get ready for it!
I took 5 lessons and then a pretest the hour before my actual driving test. During the lessons my instructor brought me around the routes which have been used before in tests, however they can change depending on the tester you get. Just be very comfortable with driving around the area, knowing where to stop etc.. During every lesson I had to practice reversing around corners, hill starts and turnabouts.

    My advice:
Reversing around corners - Be extra vigilant, look into the side street that you will be doing the reverse around the corner in as you pass it by. Once stopped remember to check your blindspot before you begin, also check over your left shoulder through the back window at least 3 times, left mirror and stop once during it to check all around you.

Three Point Turn - Just remember you don't have to do it in three turns ( I did mine in four because I was on a hill) So need to risk getting too close to the kerb!!

The pretest was great, and I found it to be of great value, my instructor asked me all about technical checks (a great chance to brush up on last minute queries or doubts). During my pretest, I made an absolute balls of the turnabout, the hillstart and the reverse around the corner, hit the kerb and everything!! ha ha (During my lessons I could do these perfectly) however my instructor was great because he said get all the mistakes and nerves out of your system now and you will be fine for the test. And you know what he was right!!! :) It also helped me to get in "the zone" for the test.

For the theory part of the test I learned these questions off by heart! http://www.drivingschoolireland.com/answers.html I think they cover each section really well and have the most important things you will be asked. (I was asked about dipped headlights, about clearways, box junctions, what to do when the amber light comes on) Plus know your road signs inside out ( I got asked the sign for a clearway, pedestrian zone, no overtaking, no right turn, pass either side) My instructor said not to bother with roadwork signs (I didnt look at them even and didnt get asked any of them either)

Hope I was of some help to you!

I must object to the underlined statements.
If you found it neccessary to stop during the reverse around the corner to maintain all around observation, you may have been going too fast. I recommend you go as slow as you need to maintain awareness of your surroundings.

If you do a turnabout with an even number of turns, you either commenced the manouvre in reverse or proceeded afterwards in reverse. Both of these actions are inadvisable.

thanks for your post. I'll take on board what you said,

I had my 1st pre-test on Friday it was a bit of a disaster but mainly from some bad habits allthough the guy said that the mistakes I was making are all a normal occourance.

Things like position on road, been in wrong gears at wrong time, driving too slow at the start but then fast near the end, and roundabouts I was in wrong position etc

next lesson is Wednesday so I'll see how I go. I think I'll sqeeze in 5 pre-tests alltoghether, theres alot to pick up and need to get up to speed
