For the money it's OK. The one negative is the digital text, it's really really slow to load. Check it out in-store if you can.

Subtitles are transmitted as a separate data stream within the multiplex and so can be accessed (if available) by either a single button on the R/C as required or displayed at all times via a menu option. The font is the same as that of the analogue 888 subtitles.

I've just checked the subtitles on the 9 o'clock news, on RTÉ 1 it has subtitles, on the RTÉ News Now channel no subtitles.

Dont waste your money buy a panasonic. Much better spec. Had a walker and returned it after 3 weeks. Red line down the screen.

I thought that many Panasonics have problems with receiving the digital RTÉ channels - according to the Saorview product listings page, Panasonic isn't listed there yet.

    .

On that TV is it possible (if you wanted) to display the 'old style' (EBU/WST/"analogue") teletext instead?(on RTE1 which has both teletext systems)

We have a Walker tv upstairs and I would never get a Walker again. It takes ages to turn on and off and sometimes turns itself back on again just after turning it off. The digital text never loads, it just says loading in the corner for ages and then the telly freezes. It's in the spare room so it isn't used that much so it's not worth replacing but when I do use it, it drives me mad!
