Cheap/Free Diagnostic in Galway?

My car ('97 Mitsubishi Space Wagon, 2L petrol) is idling high (up to 3k) and I've an engine light on my dash.
Will anywhere in Galway allow me plug it into their computer and tell me what the code says?

Hopefully it's just a vacuum leak or something, but finding a leak in that much hosing when you aren't even sure there is one is a bit of a needle/haystack situation.

    Free?

    Jasus Christ.
If you buy a car you need money to keep it running, tax, insurance, fuel and maintenance. Nothing is free chappy, its probably an idle speed control valve related problem. I suppose a cheap scan will set you back €20+.

Free is a bit rich alright.

Also the OBDII scanners that many garages will have won't be any use for your car as it should still be the older OBDI, which has a mitsubishi specific connector.

The good news is that the older electronic system on your car uses flash codes which you can access youself...

A quick search found this which saves me trying to explain it to you.:)

I Have good level diagnostic equipment that will cover Peugeot/Citroen/Opel/Vw and also have a hand held code reader that may work on your 97 Mitsubishi...let me know if you've had no luck.
