I've just moved to dublin about 2 months ago.

I'm looking for a gym, doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something i can get cardio and free weights done in.

In expensive would be a massive help to boot.

I'm living in the clonskeagh area, I don't mind driving 10-15 mins.

It would just be nice to have somewhere to go after work for an hour every evening / meet a few new people.

    Regards,

    Daz.

I've no idea what it's like, but Simply Fitness looks like it might be what you're looking for

    -> http://simplyfitness.ie/

    Another option is Friarsland (http://www.friarsland.ie/)

What gyms like this lack in flashy equipment, they tend to more than make up for it when it comes to customer care and a good vibe within the gym.

    Hope that helps,

    Paul

SimplyFitness in Milltown is pretty good. it's small enough, can get busy around 5-6pm. only has one squat rack and bench press, has a nice selection of dumbells up to about 35kg i think and a few treadmills, bikes, rowing machines and a decent stretching area.
I go there, rarely have to wait to use the squat rack, can be annoying sometimes if someone is using all of the weights for squats/bench press though. which happens about twice a week i'd say.
it's pretty much dead quiet after 7pm and stays open until 10pm, good opening hours at the weekend as well, and very quiet.

Crunch UCD would be the cheapest and nearest option for Clonskeagh.
It is only open until next April and it'd probably cost a non-student around €200ish until then.

    HI,
getting prep'd for the Christmas season, and needing gym that works me out! Any decent gyms/classes around D14/16? Also for good price?

There is no decent gym in those areas.
Only options are Carlisle in D6W, Ben Dunne's in Sandyford, Energie in Nutgrove...

I took a peek in at Energie and its really not my cup of tea. I think i have had my fair share of gyms like that.. Ben Dunne terrifies me at the thought of it..
Does anyone know of classes locally? Am up for new or different things... even personal training but just need decent price? Surely there should be a few in the area?

Plus one on bhaf here also. I train there and as mentioned is 29 a month. Rob (the owner) does 1 to 1 personal training. Also Colin and Aidan do it, but I've seen Aidan do group pt also, and Colin does kettle bell classes. Great atmosphere and good equipment

Was impressed with the place too the one time I was there. Nothing fancy but has everything you could ever need and has a great reputation from what i've seen here. Would join it myself if it wasn't a 25 minute drive from me. http://www.bhaf.ie/

WEll... Having gone to the big boys, I was on Fiverfriday website and found a studio in Churchtown www.fitnecise.ie . Whats better - no membership!! And can do courses of pilates (which I could never afford!) or kettle bells.. which I hear are the thing of the moment..
Delighted! No deposit, or administration fee to be paid!
