Parking ticket in the UK

    Hi all,

If one is ticketed in the UK by a private company in a private car park with an Irish Reg - is it likely proceedings will be brought if the ticket is unpaid?

I assume the company would have a reasonably difficult time in obtaining info from Ireland regarding the driver (who would have since returned to Ireland) and bringing proceedings.

What are peoples opinions regarding if the ticket should be paid or simply ignored?

    Thanks!

The fact that it is an Irish registration is irrelevant; in the UK a parking ticket issued on private land by a private company is unenforceable, even on UK citizens in UK-registered cars.

They may still phone and hassle, but it will never escalate because they don't have the power or authority to do that. However, in an Irish-registered car I imagine you won't even get the phonecalls.

    Don't worry about it :)

I was a student in London for 4 years with a Tipperary registered car and nothing bad ever came of my naughtier parking arrangements.

Of course, I was there on a 4 year holiday.
