Im hand feeding a rescued song thrush fledgeling. Not injured, just abandoned. Age? tail almost 1cm long.
It seems to like mashed banana, blackberry pieces, small earthworms and some water from a pipette. It wont eat on its own yet or drink water from a bowl. Ive had it 3 days and follows me around chirping looking for food when its hungry. Im feeding on demand.
Vet suggested worms for protein. I tried it with dried meal worms today (local pet shop's only offering) which I'd tried rehydrating but they were still fairly hard, but it had difficulty eating and the remains dont look digested in the faeces. Theres nowhere local that sells live meal worms or maggots and I cant find many worms in my garden. Someone said dog food. Is that worth a try or should I wait a while or try something else or keep up as is?
