Booker T can't seem to commentate on a match these past few weeks without mentioning his fave five

Got me thinking i'd love to know what some posters here would rate as their 5 favourite wrestlers right now and why.

Doesnt have to be WWE but thats all i watch so that why my picks are all from there

    Anywho

    1. CM Punk- Brilliant on the mike, brilliant in the ring. Excellent heel and he dethroned Cena. whats not to like?
    2. Brian Danielson/Daniel Bryan - Its testament to Bryans ability in the ring that he is so popular despite being shoddily caricatured almost as an amish nerd by creative. With his excellent submission moves it shouldnt have taken this long for a push
    3. Sheamus - partly because he is Irish and partly because he is a fecking beast in the ring! Think he will make a hilarious face too
    4. Chris Masters - It sickens me that he is wasted on superstars with a load of jobbers when crap wrestlers like Khali and Mark Henry get loads of airtime on Smackdown
    5. Zach Ryder- Woo woo woo, you know it! Internet champion, nuff said

Apologies if list threads arent allowed, i'm a long time lurker and relative noob to this forum:o

    2 Triple H
    3 The Miz
    4 Wade Barrett
    5 Sheamus

    1. D.Bryan
    2. That Thuwg Ezeekial Jackson
    3. Big Wade Barrett
    4. The Ginge from the Corre/Nexus who's name is as forgettable as his gimmick
    5. Mark Henry who's currently halfway through his annual failed push

    CM Punk
    Sheamus
    Christian
    Daniel Bryan
    John Cena

    Mine would have too be

Taker: Always had great in ring technique for such a big guy, You'd rarely ever see a guy his size jump over the top rope like he does (even though he nearly broke his neck once or twice doing it)

Jeff Hardy: Forget the drugs, Forget the No-Shows Or turning up late, Or turning up drunk, This guy was always entertaining too watch especially Wrestlemania 16 or 17 or both wit the TLC match, One of the best matches ever.

C.M. Punk: Great all round Wrestler if you ask me, Great Mic Skills, Great Commentary, Was a shame too see him wasted for the time he was, I'd like too see him and Bryan have sum kind of feud soon.

This is a combined 4th place, AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels: Two of the best wrestlers in TNA, There matches back when the X Division was the main thing in TNA were some of the best matches i'd ever seen. the Destination X they had one hell of a rematch (even if AJ's face was planted rite into the mat)

Raven: What another great talent that WWE couldn't use properly, His great promo's from WCW, ECW, TNA, But never had one in WWE, His days in ECW was no doubt his best it just seemed like that was the place he wanted too be the most.....

We talkin now? or all time here??

    Now:
    1. CM Punk - He is what he says, Best In The World.
    2. Zack Ryder - I think he's a hero for not letting himself disappear & building his own fan base online.
    3. The Miz - Decent in the ring, everything else he does is pure class.
    4. Alberto Del Rio - Big fan of his work, would rather him drop the rich guy gimmick thou.
    5. Sheamus - He does what a heel should do and that's look like he's doing the face's some damage, and he's Irish.

I think Dolph Ziggler deserves a mention too.

list threads are all gravy here, that's the film forum that are list nazis :p

CM Punk : no explanation required!
Cody Rhodes : Fresh character and v good promo, good in ring.
Daniel Bryan : Excellent in-ring; as ever.
Truth : Just hilarious promos. He could make anything work.
Sheamo : V interested in this semi-face turn; love that he's entering a feud with Barrett.
(Sin Cara's out at the moment; he'd be #5 otherwise)

rumour has it he aint coming back do u think he will??

Ah I think he'll be back sooner than later. His potential merch sales and has HHH's backing, I'm fairly sure they signed Averno just to make him look good; he'll be back in no time. He's just going through some growing pains at the moment. He actually should've gone to FCW so he can get used to wrestling WWE wrestlers! WWE have put too much time, money and effort into Sin Cara to just cut and run so quickly :)

    1. Punk
    2. Bryan
    3. Sheamy
    4. Miz
    5. Ricardo Rodriguez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,116 ✭✭✭starviewadams

1.Bryan Danielson:He's been pretty awesome of late, roll on 'Mania 28!

2.CM Punk:Been on fire for the past month or so,was hoping he'd stay away a wee bit longer but realistically they need him back to start building towards SummerSlam.

3.Randy Orton:Has been great since his move from Raw to SD!,has had great matches with Kane,Christian and Sheamo over the past month.

4.Rey Mysterio:Has been consistently great for ages now, which is incredible considering how banjaxed his knee's must be.

5.Sting:He looks in great shape and I've been really enjoying his joker-esque type character.

    My list is from the last 12 months and in alphabetical order;

    CM Punk
    Jeff Hardy
    John Cena
    Rey Mysterio
    Sting

And a bonus point goes to Steve Austin for making Tough Enough the best wrestling show on TV for several weeks earlier this year.

List threads are fine if people tell you why their list is such. Otherwise its completely meaningless.

Posting from my phone so will give my current list tmr.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,196 ✭✭✭Ridley

    Of the moment:

    Dolph Ziggler
    CM Punk
    Cody Rhodes
    Trent Barreta

Not sure of the fifth. If Byron Saxton was a regular on TV it'd easily be him, and Derrick Bateman and Justin Gabriel are kinda tied.

CM punk- doesnt need an explanation.

Daniel Bryan - no matter where he is on the card, he has great matches. I'd love to see him portrayed as a serious contender.

Sheamus - hes one of our own, has a great look, and solid ring work.

Rey Mysterio - despite his injuries, hes been having consistently great matches for the last few months.

Zack Ryder - Great youtube videos won me over, still getting mediocre reactions, but hopefully that will change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭sliotor

    wrestling now:

cm punk - no need to explain.

dbryan- class worker and given a proper storyline can be brilliant

ziggler- thinks he is great worker and continually has good matches.

fergal devitt- besides having loyalty because he is irish, he is the best junior in the world , pitty dont get to see his work regulary just online.

davey richards- brilliant matches, glad he has the title now and same pitty as devitt.

would give tanashi and aj styles a mention but dont make 5 at the moment.

I started watching Raw again last year, so this is my 5 based on the last 12 months of Raw alone.

    1. CM Punk. First saw him as a commentator on Raw and have enjoyed him ever since.
    2. Miz: Have enjoyed both promo work and matches of Miz since he cashed in the MiTB late last year against Orton.
    3. R-Truth. I couldn't stand the guy when he was rapping and dancing about. Since he turned on JoMo he has been spectacular in promo's and has upped his game somewhat in the ring too. I just hope he doesn't go too far down the "crazy guy = comedy segments every week" and sticks to what he is doing now.
    4. Sheamus: Dissapointed he is on SD! now, but always enjoy his work... And yes, I'm watching with green-tinted glasses.
    5. Daniel Bryan: Great wrestler, submission expert. Look forward to seeing where he goes from here what with having won the MiTB. The only was is up for him!

Honorable mentions go to: Dolph Ziggler, Zack Ryder, The Bella Twins

    1. ADR. Love the Mexican aristocrat gimmick and really enjoy his work in the ring.

    2. Cm Punk. The guy seems to have the whole package.

    3. R-Truth. Very competent in the ring and great on the mike, I just hope they don't ease up on his push.

    4. Cody Rhodes. Has a very interesting gimmick and plays it very well. Bright future ahead of him in WWE.

    5. A.J Syles. Have being watching TNA more often recently and always find AJ's matches entertaining.

    Oh man, i'll try.

    1. Taker. Always has and always will be my favourite.
    2. Santino. The bugger always makes me laugh
    3, Jericho, Superb performer.
= 4. Miz and Punk. The best current performers atm IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

    1. Punk - for obvious reasons.
    2. Miz - Classic heel, and performs it very well. Enjoyable the last few weeks.
    3. Daniel Bryan - Quality in and out of the ring.
    4. Christian - One of the best heels there is, in my opinion. Have loved him since back in the day.
    5. Sheamus - Beast in the ring, decent heel and has the potential to be a fantastic face if given the chance.

    right now:

daniel bryan - just an exceptional worker

CM Punk - the man. so glad hes finally being used to get himself over rather then others

Christian - always great as a heel. glad to see hes being given his shot

Seamus - great worker and oozes confidence.

Alberto Del Rio - still not the complete package. id like to see him do better promos tbh. i know he gets a lot of praise for them but i feel he needs a moment like cm punk had to really get to that next level

^ Why? List mean nothing unless explained.

    In no particular order

Adam Cole & Kyle O Reilly: Hottest young team in the US at the moment. Had incredible matches with Briscoes, Kings and WGTT. Not so shabby singles wise either.

CM Punk: Oh how they laughed a few years back when some folk guaranteed he would be incredible. He is now proving hos worth and will go on to be one of the all time greats.

John Cena: Not everyones cup of tea, and boy does he play that gimmick well. Does not get half the credit he deserves, but is majorly hamstrung by the way he is portrayed.

Kings Of Wrestling: Best tag team in the world today. Amazing match after amazing match.

Albertooooo DELLLLL RrrrrrIIIIIOOOOOO: Building himself oh so perfectly. Money in the bank gimmick suits him perfect.

Honorable mentions - Seamus - Brian Danielson - Eddie Edwards - Alex Shelley - Briscoes.

    Melina
    Alicia Fox
    ....
No, but seriously, just personal favourites, haven't seen much non WWE stuff so..

    1) CM Punk - He's just incredible entertainment at the moment. When he has the mic in his hands you can't wait to hear what he says next.

    2) Daniel Bryan - Just a quality performer in the ring and always makes his opponent look good too

    3) Sheamus - Has been improving week on week since he hit the main roster and is capable of putting on a good match with pretty much anyone. Looking forward to see how he connects with the crowd as a face.

4)R-Truth - Never thought I'd say that a few months ago but his paranoid antics and his ravings about the little Jimmys are great fun.

5)Christian - Consistently good performer good to see him in and about the title scene on SD after so long even if he v Orton is getting a little repetitive

im going to do it the same way Booker T does and pick a current five from the WWE that could change on a weekly basis cos its mostly based on their form, kinda like WWE's power 25 or whatever its called.

    1. CM Punk - put simply he is as he says, the best wrestler in the world at the moment as he has the total package and is on such form atm that he can simply do no wrong.... and yes im cheating as I found it hard to seperate 2

    2. Bryan Danielson - I called Punk the best wrestler in the world but I guess I should have said sports entertainer because Danielson is the one who always has a match worthy of being in the Best Matches Of The Year 2011 thread once they give him the time he deserves and sure they gave him the MITB win

    3. The Miz - Dunno if creative knew what to do with him after he left the main event & Riley but the guy is always improving

    4. Cody Rhodes - This guy can make me care about Ted Dibiase Jr... need I say more

5.Orton/Christian - If I had to give one of them the nod it would be Orton has he has won me over recently while I always liked Christian but there is a reason they have had such a long feud, together they have been delivering.

Closest to breaking into the above fave 5 for me are Truth for his comedy which im still loving and Sheamus for his all round consistancy and quality

    1. Kane - Childhood favourite, he tends to get stuck in crummy feuds but I still love him
    2. Daniel Bryan - Fantastic performer, he's always a go-to for a solid match when given a chance.
    3. Sheamus - The face turn should be good, I loved him during his heel run.
    4. Christopher Daniels - My favourite TNA wrestler, I was shocked when he got released, but I'm glad he's back now. Plus, he's Curry Man :pac:
    5. Evan Bourne - I really want this guy to get a run with a secondary title, either US or IC. I would say Tag team too, but until that division picks up it wouldn't do much.
