Specialized allez 16

    Hi

    I've been looking at getting a bike through the BTW scheme. Was in the bike shop today and the guy offered me the specialized allez 16 @ 639. There was a trek bike and a giant for around 700 but the guy said this one would be much better. As im unfamiliar with the brand and this will be my first bike in around 14yrs i would appreciate it you could let me know if this is a good bike/offer? The bike will be used for traveling home from work around 17k and some good excercise rides at the weekend.

    It's a 2010 spec Specialized which is now discontinued.

    Nothing wrong with the bike in itself, I have one here, but it's last years model and 8-speed. Bottom Shimano spec in 2011 changed to 9-speed. Frame between the 2010 & 2011 bikes are probably the same.

    I like Specialized as a brand.

    However this looks like a bit of a rip off. The same bike is £500 in the Belfast and the UK (mcconveycycles and evans) which is about €565. You can do better.

    Aye, full RRP of the Allez 16 that I bought in Cycleways early Jan 2010 was €640.

    Thanks guys. Have seen the Giant defy 4 triple bike '11 should be able to get it for around the same price so might check that one out

    Hi, thought id say to you that up monday evening you could get a specialized Allez 18 with full sora groupset for 673 from 749, at Marrey Bike Shop, Ballinroad, Mayo. This is after a 12.5 discount which was in place over the weekend and ended on monday evening. Free Delivery also. I have no connection with the store, but where i live the LBS are looking for 960 euro so its a real good price, you should try them and see would they do the deal with you. They also have a website, google marrey bikes.....................
