BMW 316 not starting

    Hi Guys, driving home last night (BMW e46 2001 316 se) and the engine management light came on, no lack of power or other symptoms. Parked the car up for 20 mins and went back to start it, keeps turning over but wont start :(. Any ideas what would cause this ?? Should i get a diagnostics check done ? or could it be something small ?

    I had something similar with an 1996 E36 320...but it didnt turn over at all. Camshaft was gone so bascially a write off and still sitting int he drive 12 mths later.....not saying that is your problem!!!

    Get a diagnostic check is the only answer

    Yep you should get a diagnostics check on it and it could well be something small, eg like the crank sensor.

    would it run if the crank sensor went ? it ran for a while with eng management light on and then would not re-start
