Old Spice.

What do the young generations these days use as a scent?

You see, in my day, we had Old Spice, I still use it. It melted a woman's heart, made her weak at the knees. Made her weak in other places too if you get my drift.

I just don't think today's generations have what it takes to be a true man. "A man without spice is no man at all", my father once told me; as we sat on a bale of hay, drinking fresh lemonade in the evening sun.

Is there an equivalent these days?

I had a huge stash of it as my little sister got it for me every Christmas for years.
Joop and Lynx are what I use.

Luuurve Gaultier 'le male' - it's very distinctive.

Old Spice...Urgh. My father used to douse himself in this (or Drakkar) for years, and to this day I can't stand it.

To be honest i just smell of clean.

Not a huge fan of after shave and stuff.

Not a huge fan of perfume on girls either.

I like the way people smell when they are clean...i don't trust people who use too much scent.

    What you hiding?:D

I'm using YSL - L'Homme de Nuit (Man of the Night)

It's pretty nice to wear at night time, barring that I just go for the clean smell.

I was given some Old Spice after shave & deo last Christmas. I still have no idea why, but it was from someone half my age. I didn't know whether I ought to be insulted or not - whether it was just his attempt to be thoughtful, or whether he understood the imprecation embodied in that label ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I use the crap out of old spice day to day. that or lynx afrika aftershave. both of them are cheap and short lived enough to pour over my head when arsing about or running to work.

    for situations where im more likely to be smelled;
    le male
    boss
    ck1
    for the brave

or quite commonly, something unique and homemade. I took to making homemade aftershave this year. getting better all the time. which is not hurt by having a bigger library of ingredients

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,461 ✭✭✭--Kaiser--

I'm I the only one who doesn't use aftershave?

    Kenneth Cole - Black

Can not get it this side of the pond but then again aftershave is not something I use every day so a bottle lasts a long time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,303 ✭✭✭source

I tend to use older less common scents, which are ridiculously cheap compared to the big branded crap also they smell way better and are much manlier than their expensive counterparts.

    Floid Original
    Floid Blue
Taylors of Bond Street (TOBS) "Shaving Shop"
Geo F Trumpers Extract of Limes
    Proraso
    TOBS Sandalwood
    D R Harris Arlington

    A few;

    Armani - Code and Emporio
    Hugo Boss -Original One
    Chanel -Allure Sport
    Issey Mikai

JP Gautier reminds me of a guy that used to cover his smell up with it:eek: and there are too many guys wearing it.

I normally use Hugo Boss, Joop or a Madame Rochas one which smells a small bit womanly but I like it and that's all that matters
