Hi All, to replace a breather filter on a E90 2005 bmw 320d,
The cost of original filter thats in her at present is €15 in my local motor factors but ive spoken to several others who say that these are not good as they clog very quickly and can damage the turbo so not to use them...they said to use the modified vortex type one but its nearly five times the price of the other and i think myself that this Original cylinder type one would do the job for now…. what you think

Just buy the vortex breather itself, you don't need to buy the full kit. The breather on its own won't be any more than 30/40 quid.

Just curious but I thought the E90 had the vortex one as standard and not the "loo roll" type one that the E46 had originally?

You are on about the crankcase breather for the turbo aren't you?

yes its the turbo breather filter ,this is one of the first new model 320 diesels, was thinking of just getting a new one of these and it would do the best but just unsure..
dont want to blow the turbo on it..

I'd be very suprised if it had one of the foam filters tbh, i thought all E90s had the vortex one. If you're sure though i would get the vortex one for sure. I put one into my E46. They newer type aren't supposed to block but i'll prob change mind at 60k miles anyway, thats what bmw reccomended for the old foam type one, every third oil change by the official longlife oil change schedule.
