Or have you always left a note, no matter how small the damage was?

    like what sort of note?

eg: "**** you beatch with your big swanky lexus....you probably cant even drive properly"

    or

"that was for looking at me when you pulled into the carpark mother****er"

    or

    "I'm soooooooooo soooorrrry!!"

    or

    "I like lollipops? do you?"

    Guilty conscience OP?

Personally I avoid the need for notes by avoiding hitting other cars. It seems simpler all round.

Yes, we were parked properly and some idiot decided to park on the road in a way that blocked us in. I used the hitch of my car to move/ force the offending car out of the way. Of course some do gooder reported me , when i explained to the garda that my wife was expecting and i didn't want to press any charges against the driver who blocked us in, i never heard anything after that.

No, because I have never hit or scraped another car.

If you hit or scrape another car and drive away, you are an inconsiderate cnut and should be ashamed of yourself.

    NO and for a reason.

Karma will get the better of those that try to get away with it.

If I parallel park in a particularly tight spot in a skilful manner, I'll get out, have a walk around to admire my work and saunter off like I'm cock of the walk.

    Very Alan Partridge.

I was in London for the CL final in May with a group of mates. Some taxi which was like a stretch limo took a corner wicked fast and smacked into a car that was parked (correctly parked I must add). He then quickly reversed and drove off. I managed to get the reg plate and went into a restaurant, noted their reg plate and model number/colour of the car + the time it happened and left a note on the hit car's windscreen.

Once rushing for a 9am interview after working till 5am the night before, i was so stressed and tired i didn't realise i was reversing into a parking space that had a car already in it. The car wasn't even small or parked very far up the space, i was just that out of it i didn't know what i was doing.
I just seen it in my mirror and braked before i hit it square on, i got out and had a look, couldn't see a mark so just parked my car and ran into the interview about 5 minutes late. When i came out the car was gone. I'm 99% sure there wasn't a mark but if you owned a red Toyota Celica (around 1996 model) and were parked in LYIT car park back in about 2005, i'm sorry.

p.s i didn't get the job, couldn't even talk straight in the interview. It was a second interview and i done very well in the first interview.

If you scrapped someone's car where would you leave the note?

I'd attach it to the cube of crushed metal I'd have delivered to their driveway

    it would read

"a ha ha ha ha....Gotcha!!.........so we O.K. for dinner on thursday night then honeybunch?"

    Under the wiper

or you could play a game, leave a note under the wiper with instructions on where the real note is, kind of like a treasure hunt.

I would like to think everyone would do the same in that situation. Its not fair that some poor sod sees their car smashed and has to foot the bill themselves

Came home from work to pick up my car from the local car park and a big dirty dent in the side of the back bumper. Was fecking raging because I was trying to sell the car at the time. Needless to say no note left and I had to fork out €200 to get it out. Hope karma catches up with the b*strd who did it and drove off.

But the question is have you ever SRCAPPED someone's car. I think it's LA gang slang "yo, mofo, I SR Capped yo' ride in the ass". Or something.

Scrappage Scheme is over, so I'd get nothing from it.

Someone scrapped Seanie Fitz's car, though.

Did Mr. Bean get a note I wonder......

    Guilty conscience OP?

    Well yes and no.

I was pulling out after work and ended up with a scratch on my car. I had parrallel parked but the other cars parked too tight to my car, though there was just about enough space to get out. I ended up slightly tipping the car ahead of me but couldn't realy stop to get out since I would be blocking traffic but turned at a round about to see if there was any scratch on the other car on the way back. I had a very good look from across the road but couldn't see any scratch and thought nothing of it. But when I came home I could see a very small scratch on my own car, I actually drove back to the spot to look closer at the other car but it was gone. I think I must of hit the area with an extra lining on the bumper (don't know what it's called:confused:)

Pissed off that they parked too tight to my car, and at myself for not waiting/looking for the owners of the other cars:mad:

But if I ever did do damage I would leave a note, I've asked a few of my mates if they'd ever leave a note or just drive off. Most of them said they would just drive off

That's his re-reg'd motor scrapped! :pac:

    Ok I'll be honest...Yes I did :o

Was reversing and my son distracted me and I hit the car behind me. I didn't get out to see if there was any damage, I just panicked and drove off. When I got home I checked my own car and found a couple of minor scratches.

I felt so bad, I didn't sleep for week because of the guilt. If it ever happened again I would leave my details.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,201 ✭✭✭amacca

seemingly very conscientious posters in this thread..guilt/loss of sleep would definitely leave a note etc

    very surprised...

restores my faith in humanity....well maybe not.
