Just checking out the fixtures site and the dates for the semi's are up

    August 7th
    Minor - Clare vs. Galway
    Senior - Kilkenny vs. Waterford

    August 14th
    Minor - Dublin vs. Waterford
    Senior - Tipperary vs. Dublin

Originally Clare were down to play the 14th (Minor and Senior Munster champions playing the same day), I'm guessing seeing as Dublin won the Leinster championship they were given the option of playing the same day as their seniors.

Absolutely disgraceful decision to change minor fixture like that.
It was announced yesterday on Radio Waterford minors would play the same day as there seniors.Waterford people will now have to travel to Croker 2 weeks in a row.How much support will the minors now get????

Obviously from a selfish POV, I'm delighted that our minor and senior teams are playing the same day but all the same I can understand why the Deise supporters would be angry about it.

Haven't heard for what reason the change was made though.

On the matches themselves, our minors have had a great year thus far and would love to see them go one step further after the disappointment of the Clare match in last year's semi final.

In the senior game, Tipp might as well not bother turning up ;)

In all seriousness though, we're in bonus territory and given the injuries we've had throughout the year, we've done well to get where we are. If we had Brady, Keaney and Hiney, I'd be confident that we'd give the Premier a right good rattle but as long as we put in a performance, I'll be happy.

I'd imagine that Dublin were put down to play the same day as their season as a reward for being the provincial champions, I'm sure if Waterford had won Munster they would have had more chance of having both games being on. I also didn't think the minor semi's were set in stone until after the senior semis were decides, it was ear marked to have both Munster champions play the same day but that was never a foregone conclusion.

Bit of a disgrace that Waterford are playing on different weekends. The Dubs would have far less to travel to croker to watch both their teams unlike Waterford supporters.
Going to enjoy going to Croker to watch our minors. Think it will be a lot more exciting and tight than the senior game that comes after it as i just cant see Waterford competing with Kilkenny.

It could be argued that Dublin are the only team still in both championships so it would be a lot to expect them goto Croke Park 3 times in a few weeks. Both options the GAA had has pros and cons for both options, personally I'd love to have the "problem" of having to goto see my county play 2 All Ireland semis on separate weekends

What's the fuss ? This happens regularly. If you lose out in your province in either Minor or Senior, then you lose all control over the dates your games are on, and rightly so.

I suppose with the fact that dublin senior, U21 and minor hurlers are still in contention, and the senior and minor footballers, they are trying to give the fans some bit of assistance. To go to all of those next games would cost over €140 just for tickets, not to mind travelling to Croke park three times, portlaoise and probably Cavan.
I think because the minors are provincial champions, then they get the priority. Also, it was never set in stone regarding which minor semi was on and what date, always said they would be decided when the teams were known, but i do understand why waterford people feel aggrieved..

I was talking to someone this evening who was telling me that the Galway minors are a very good team and it should be a great game, I'm going to miss it :(

Agreed. As a Waterford fan I was obviously hoping that we might get the games on the same day. But its fairest to reward a team that won a provincial championship

    that's a F&%*N DISGRACE!

Two years ago Waterford had to travel on two different days for their minors too.

changing it for Dublin! bull****, £2.50 on a bus in from Kilmacud or Malahide .... Waterford fans have to travel 100 miles return.

The Two provincial cmampions always play the same day. Waterford GAA should put their foot down & demand this is changed!

& I want to know who is responsible for this decision, I'M DISGUSTED

Direct all complaints to Croke Park, this decision had NOTHING to do with the Dublin County Board.

    I'm sure they haven't.

£45 two weeks in a row plus the price of petrol up & down from Waterford.

Waterford GAA club members should be given £10 tickets for the 2nd semi-final.

I honestly dont see the disgrace. The GAA said before the minor and senior quarter finals that they would try where possible to put a team that qualified for both semi finals on the same day and therefore only fixed the Leinster senior champs for 7th Aug and Munster senior champs for 14th Aug, and waiting to see who came through the quarter finals before deciding which minor teams played which date. - Cant fault this.

As it turned out both Waterford and Dublin qualified through the senior quarter finals, and also ended up playing each other in a minor semi final. - Cant fault the GAA here.

Dublin won the Leinster minor championship whereas Waterford got through the back door in both minor and senior. Dublin therefore get the advantage of having both teams playing the same day in the semi final.

I would have much preferred if Waterford were playing both games on the 7th but can see why it went to Dublin and if we were in their position we'd be crying out for the same.

Why are my fellow Waterford people complaining about the fixtures? Dublin would have equal right to complain if it was the other way round. As provincial champs they get preference. Deal with it.

Since when do the minor champions get preference about when they play? I thought it was always provincial champions playing the same day. Dont remember it ever being this way

Don't think that is true to be honest. When was the last time the two Leinster Champions didn't play on the same day in the semi final. In 2009, Waterford had to travel up twice. Ok Kilkenny were Leinster Champions in both minor and senior, but I don't see what bearing the Senior would have on the Minor game. The fixtures stayed the same, as they should now. I wouldn't complain if the roles were reverse, I always thought that just was the way it works out which would be fair enough. It seems very unfair just to change it, it would be one thing if there was only one team left in both but not when both teams have qualified. And I think you're really under valuing the Waterford team here, they had to fight to get into the semis, and have as much right to being there as Dublin, hence it should have been left as it was.

FWIW, Cork minor footballers play Dublin in Port Laois next Monday, while the Seniors play Mayo in Croke Park on the previous day.

It's nothing new and I really can't see what the problem is.

Football and hurling are not the same sport (there's only two provincial championships in hurling at minor level). Your talking about quarter finals also. Semi finals are always on in Croke Park. Tell me when the last time the Leinster Minor and Senior champions didn't play on the same day in hurling?

I'd imagine you are a good club man and are aware that you can buy tickets through the club pass for €10 for both days.

If your interested enough you will arrange for the club to apply for the tickets, and to add to that, i am pretty sure irishrail do a club discount also, where if you book 50 people, you get a very cheap train ticket.

Funny you say that as someone told me that Clare are probably the favourites for the AI - it should be a good game regardless.

Delighted that the Dublin minor hurlers are rewarded for their Leinster title win by being on the same bill as the Dublin seniors. I believe Waterford were impressive in their win over Kilkenny, so it'll bea tough game for them.
