I have Sky HD on my main box and Sky + on my multiroom box but with the new change allowing HD on your multiroom box at no extra charge I decided to get a new HD box for my mutiroom. I rang Sky and was quoted a price of €259 for a HD box. I think this is very pricey. Any other options? Also what have people done to get second and third HD boxes? Are you paying €259 each time?
    Thanks

do you already have a 1TB box? According to current offers on their website, existing customers are entitled to one @ €49 if taking up multiroom or €149 if not. Additional boxes are €249. Some people on Uk forums are cancelling multiroom and then taking it out again to avail of the €49 offer.

Just to follow up on this, I rang sky to get an upgrade for my multiroom Sky+ SD box and got a free HD box + free install next Monday. 1TB box would have been €149 or €49 with another multiroom.

at the minute I have a Sky+ Box in the living room and a standard Sky Box in the bedroom. I cancelled the multiroom(sky box in bedroom) approx 2 months ago but thinking of getting it back again.

If I ring up will I be able to get the above offer, free HD box and install?

If so, might put Sky+ down in bedroom and HD box in living room

Cant say 100% as offers for existing customers are usually based on what you have got from them in the past and whether you are out of contract or not. Based on the boxes you list above i would image you are entitled to at least one HD box. Give them a buzz as you've nothing to lose. They're only too happy to tie you into another 12 mth contract.

thanks for that but just thinking about it and it would mean having to buy a hd tv as well so might wait a while

    Hi Crackity Jones,

I also have one HD box and one Sky+ SD box (which is not in the best of health). I would like to get it replaced with a 1TB HD box if possible.

When you got your free upgrade did it involve much haggling with them? Or did they just offer you the new 1TB box as a replacement if you signed up for another 12 months?
    Thanks

I was prepared to haggle / threaten to cancel but didn't need to. Just said I was interested in upgrading the multiroom box and looking at options. Didn't realise the new sky hd boxes had 500GB which is more than my Samsung HD box so was happy to go with that for zero cost.

    Hi Crackity Jones

I just contacted sky on 0818 762 832 and was quoted €149:eek: for a HD box upgrade to a SD+ box (as I already have one HD box)

Did you already have one HD box and one SD box when they gave you the free upgrade or were both your sky boxes SD?

I might have to postpone my upgrade plans for a better offer

Sky won't give out discounted boxes if you already have a Sky+ box in the house regardless of whether it's SD or HD.
Their policy is that customers who already have Sky+ received them at a discount originally.

There are ways around this such as cancelling and signing up again under a new name and simply using your old Sky+ box for multiroom after you get the new boxes installed.
Sometimes even telling Sky you only have a standard box has been known to work even though Sky should know what equipment you already have.

Bummer to that. I have a Samsung HD and a pace sky+ SD both out of contract. Have sky world and HD + 1 multiroom sub. Got through to the call centre in cork but don't think that shd make any difference.
