    • iPod Touch (4th generation) switches off when batter is used up
    • When I recharge, I have to re-set date and time
    • Is that normal?

Probably normal but I never let my battery run out. Modern lithium ion battery's like frequent charging and dont like being run down completely.

It's not normal, I've never had to do it with two (G2 & G4) iTouches.

The bit about not being run down completely is true but intelligent devices like laptops, mobile phones, SatNavs and iPods are programmed to switch off before the battery gets down to a dangerous level so it is a good policy to every now and then run them down to the point where they switch themselves off.

I've never heard of manually setting the time and date on an iTouch. Its does it when synced to iTunes doesn't it? I know the iPhone can update off the network but I though the iTouch did it off iTunes.

Correct, it gets the date & time from iTunes when you sync but I'm assuming the OP recharges the iPod and then switches it on at which stage it asks for the date & time before he has a chance to sync. it.

Hmm.. Wonder is it a fault with the internal clock battery?
