I'm heading to Oz for 3 months in September with my GF and am flying in and out of Sydney. While there we'll probably spend a week or 2 each side in Sydney but in between want to travel around. We have no set itinerary but were thinking of getting a car / camper and driving to see the country. We are wondering what people…

I'm heading to Oz for 3 months in September with my GF and am flying in and out of Sydney. While there we'll probably spend a week or 2 each side in Sydney but in between want to travel around. We have no set itinerary but were thinking of getting a car / camper and driving to see the country.

We are wondering what people think is the best option. To try buy something or to rent for the time? Buying will probably end up cheaper but might take longer as we'd have to wait to get something and take time to sell it at the other side. Renting will be more expensive but less hassle. What have others done and what were your experiences?
