US Pre Clearance & Check-In T1

A while back I read that all the check-in islands in T1 will be taken out and check-in desks will be like they are in T2. Is this going to happon or will they stay the same. There is way to many in T1 as it is. At least half are not used and Aera 1 & 2 now gone and Aera 14 closed.

Will the other 2 EI flights use US pre clearance anytime soon.

Its a shame its not being used to all US flights, but as the EI JFK flight goes back to 15/45 departure for winter will that clear it as once the14/00 to BOS goes passengers would be coming through for the JFK.

Is it staffing problems or can't it cope with the amount of passengers in the mornings. Also if needed could the facility be expanded in the future.

The 109 will continue to be processed at JFK. Currently USCBP finish up after processing for the 14.10 137 to BOS. Unless their numbers are increased and hours extended then the status quo will remain.

Its simply not feasible to keep CBP open for the 109. Its a busy spot at the mornings but unless other airlines take up long haul US slots CBP will stay operating current hours

They have only last week closed the security at check in desk 11. They were working on the new area at the opposite end of the hall for a while now along with the connecting flight area. I think they will first move everyone to thedesks closer to security before they start working on moving the desks against the wall. Couple of more months yet..
