I had a very difficult extraction of a bottom molar 5 days ago it was a root extraction very little tooth left above the gum line and everytime he got a hold of it it broke he gave up after about 40 mins he said he wreckons he got about 80 percent of the tooth, he really tried everything to get the rest of the root but couldnt get it sent me home with antibiotics for an infection around the root. and asked me to come back next week

I have been taking the antibiotics and also rinsing with corsodyl daily and taking over the counter pain killers the problem is the pain is getting worse instead of better the day after the extraction I was in pain but it was manageable but it seems every day the pain is getting stronger and now the solpadene isnt really doing anything.

I figure i'll need a sugical extraction to get the rest of the root and will call my dentist tomorrow for advice but in the mean time owwww :(

sounds like you've knocked the clot out of the socket, which can happen if you rinse too vigorously afterwards. best thing to use is warm salty water and use it gently.
you'll need a dressing put into the socket which should just take a few mins. between that and the antibiotics it should settle down.
the roots may move a little in the next few months making any subsequent attempt to remove them much easier, so don't expect your dentist to go digging for them when you show up.

Saw the dentist this morning I had indeed knocked the clot and my jaw bone had become exposed in a few places all packed up now and going back for another dressing in 3 days feels a lot better still a really sore nuisance
