How can I find the UK equivalent model of my car?

    Hello all, recently imported a car into Northern Ireland from the Republic. Problem is that the insurance companies won't quote me until I can give them the equivalent UK model of the car. Not sure how to go about finding out. Can anyone help? The car is a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.3 Comfort.

    If you mean the previous generation 02 model then I'm pretty sure they didn't sell the 1.3 model in the uk. The 1.3 is a paddy special.

    Lancer saloon, excluding the Evo, hasn't been sold in the UK for along time as small saloons don't sell well in the UK. The Carisma replaced it the UK back in the mid 1990s. The Carisma was dropped in the UK in early 2004 and wasn't replaced with a new model or Lancer due to lack of demand. The Lancer didn't reappear in the UK until late 2009 when it was launched as a 5 dr hatchback only as a spiritual successor to the Carisma. Smallest engine was 1.6 litre afaik.

    Over here the Carisma and Lancer were still sold until 2004. The Carisma and Lancer were removed from the Irish market in 2004 and not replaced until 2005. The 2005 model was a facelifted version of the JDM Lancer which had been on sale in Japan since early 2003. The current Lancer was lauched in early 2009.

    OP, try contacting Mitsubishi Ireland HQ, they might be able to help you out.

    The saloon was sold in the uk too bazz.1.6 engine. Good few on autotrader

    I've been thinking about this thread.

    If you bring in a Nissan March from Japan and an Irish Insurance company tells you they need the "Irish Version" of it to insure it and you tell them a Nissan Micra then:

    I would ask them for a formal letter stating they accept the vehicle is NOT the same spec and WILL, considering this, confirm the vehicle description will not void the insurance in case of an Insurance Assessor declaration.
