Imagine what would happen , if Vietnamese tourist drive in Dublin, he would kill bunch of people, and couldn't understand, why he got arrested, .... over people themselves jumping under car on pedestrian crossing ???? :D:D:D

Oh god vietnam, been there. Absolutely nuts, I had to get shown how to cross the street by a friend who was working there. Basically close your eyes and walk across (they avoid you) its em... an experience to say the least.

It's the same in Rome, you just keep your head up and hope for the best

In Paris, they have zebra crossing markings at traffic light controlled crossings. So it's easy to saunter on out, only to get a blast from a Parisien taxi.

In Vietnam you just walk across the road at a normal pace and the drivers judge where you'll be when they get near you and thy maneuver their vehicle (motorbike mostly) so that they are behind you when you are crossing.

That guy made a bit of a deal out of it, it's actually not too bad, the drivers have pretty good awareness of where you'll be....for the most part

A little less crazy but its the same kinda idea in peurto rico, in south America, you judge and go and then hope for the best!

    Quiet crossing by Vietnam's standards.

Absolutely crazy. What are their road death statistics like?

They should put bridges instead of zebra crossings :)

I lived in Nam so I was one of those bike drivers.

When you drive you aim for the pedestrian. By the time you get there the pedestrian will have moved on. You will pass behind.
That's why you NEVER stop for a bike when you are crossing the road!

Also you had to learn which red lights to stop at. The rule was to ignore the lights so there were only 1 or 2 you actually stopped for. Stop at a red light and the 200 bikes behind you would smash into you.
Being on a bike is like being part of a swarm. Go with the flow.

Oh and that video is lame. It isnt even busy.

One, look for a safe place
Two, don't hurry, stop and wait
Three, look all around and listen, before you cross the road
Four, hurry the **** across without getting hit
That's the Vietnamese safe cross code!

We'd have about five fatal industrial accidents a year. Two accidental drownings in swimming pools overseen by lifeguards, maybe ten pedestrians who really are stupid anyway and need to be culled, and one child who dies while managing to stick their finger in the live socket and ground themselves with 210Volts.
