So not beleiving that an FMJ round would not outright kill a rabbit I headed out earlier and loaded up the mag with 55gr FMJ.

Spotted a rabbit about 100 yards out so I went prone and got eyes. I squeezed off a round and 'slap' hit the rabbit centre mass. Lo and behold the fecker side crawls into a ditch about 20 feet away!

I took the mag out, unloaded it and re upped with HP.

Moral of the story: Always listen to more experienced shooters on Boards :)

Also: My apologies to the rabbit family.

they would kill rabbits no bother with head shots, ive seen rabbits move after hp and balistic tips, shot placement is what drops most stuff on the spot

I never said that they wouldn't kill a rabbit or fox.

I wouldn't say that... He has shown from experience that FMJs are not suitable for hunting.

There's no point in pretending that none of us have ever made a mistake- or have something we're hunting run.

I think the point Marlin was making is that posting it here is not the best idea.

You make it sound like you shot it in the stomach. Where exactly did you hit it?

I'm not trying to knock arcto or start a debate obout ethics, or pretending that similar thing's haven't happened to me,my point is there are plenty of anti's out there trolling these forum's,we just need to be carefull.Bunnyshooter took my point as as I tryed to put across.Keep on shooting Arcto no offence was meant, we're all here trying to enjoy and promote the sport.

I got your point Marlin as well; and I can see exactly where you are coming from.

I know boards is open to all and people from other parts of boards may click in from time to time... I am on a few shooting forums though and feel that perhaps this one is slightly too pc. Boards is easily my favourite shooting forum as it boasts the most intelligent posters and not just a load of eejits trying to get their post-count up.

To get back to my point before I get lost... Arcto's post was an honest one that answered a question that has come up a few times lately. I was also in a discussion about it in a dealers 2 weeks ago- where dealer and customer agreed that FMJs would be fine for foxes, with me dsagreeing :o
