Mechanics Advice

    Hi, i'm looking for some advice from any mechanics on here.
    I drive an 01 ford focus.
    When I started up my car yesterday, the speedometer began to jump upto 120 mph with out me putting my foot on the accelarator, at the same time the volume on the radio went up and down rather quickly aswell.
    When I began to drive the car, the speedometer stopped working and the digital millage clock went off.
    Any body have any ideas what may be wrong with my car? I recently got the barrel and key replaced by a mechanic and am begining to think this is related.
    The engine warning light has being illuminated so I don't want to drive the car incase I am doing damage to the motor but I need the car for work so I need this problem sorted as soon as possible. Therefore I am looking for some advice before I bring it to another mechanic and hand over money I don't really have.
    Any advice would be greatly appriciated>

    I would hazzard a guess of its s lose earth connection ive come across this afew times u could pm me if u require further help
