Screw Torchwood, this is what we're talking about - the word "epic" springs to mind :D
River Song with the same eyepatch? Is this going to be a further paradox in that she's ALSO River?

Oh and in case people missed it, the date for the next episode was published too. For American TV, but it's a good guess that the UK will be the same time or earlier - Saturday August 27th!

hey, i dont know if its a spoiler or not seeing as its shown in the trailer but
twas reading online that the patch could have an image of the silence on the inside to control the person wearing it, so it could just be that rivers under their control rather then her actually being Eye Patch Lady also

i think that its river that shoots the dr in the impossible astro so the eye patch might explain why

as usual, @dwmtweets is being po-faced and up its own arse on that and denying everything.

not to mention the spat I got into with then about the fact that this is series 6-part 2. For some odd reason they declared on twitter and facebook last week that "Lets Kill Hitler" was Series 7, Episode one. When I debated the issue the comments in reply we all got were a bit unreal "I with Facebook wouldnt allow people to comment" for example, and when i posted that I was only going by that DWM itself said in three issues this year, they deleated my comment.

It is bizzare, esp as the BBC says its part two, and so dies the dvd cover (although I have only seen the tester version).

    bloody BBC politics....

It's well documented that the BBC couldn't sort a swim in Atlantis and any actual success the corporation has enjoyed is completely,
    wholly, unintentional.

And that little anecdote neatly reminds me why I stay the hell away from dedicated Who forums and communities. I used to post on galligreyone (while it was still around) but got fed up with the rabid types

ah, i am far from rabid, I just love reading about the politics :D

i just asked how come they went from what everyone, including the bbc and themselves, had simply accepted was what was going on, and suddenly started this new line. I was interested from the internal bbc politics point of view, others werent, but the attitude of DWM was odd, and it continues on their facebook page and twitter feed.

It would be akin to myself when I was the mod here, or the current mods posting a topic, then in fustration with the replys wither deleating them of locking the thread after the first post.

Now, this is not to deny that there are not a lot of serious headcases out there, and you dont have to look far to find them in fandom. This forum has been blessed so far in that respect, I think only one person has ever been banned form here and that was a long time ago. I enjoy highlighting occasionally the headcases I see on the other sites, it provides a bit of a laugh that anyone could be so serious and, erm, passionate, about what is, after all, a telly programme.

As far as I am concerned I look at it this way - they recently finished shooting series 6, part two. they were behind schedule, and they seemed to know it since January (the mark gatiss story - the one in which Amy is all robotic like - has been filmed since december, and was originally supposed to be episode three now its ten) so the BBC basically must have thought, bring all 13 in by July and have it look rubbish or give them the extra time they needed to bring all 13 up to scratch and give them a short break.

It is done with good intentions, and had it been announced in that fashion, fair enough, who would have cared? Instead, by doing it the way they have, and by it leaking into Private Eye, and then the departures of Piers Wenger and Beth Willis and the odd stuff from the controller of BBC 1 and Stephen Moffat on twitter - well it seems to have created a sence of panic with a certain element of fandom that, here we go, its the 80's all over again, they are looking for an excuse to can it, and the mistaken hype over the overnight ratings was fueling this irrational stuff. Into the middle of this steps the official magazine which starts contradicting the stuff it published in Feb, March and April of this year, and then starts wiping posts when people point that out and refusing to debate the topic at all.

Bizarre stuff, but I find it all highly enjoyable. As a fan I am not personally getting my knickers ina twist over it, all I am doing is pointing at the BBC getting its knickers in a twist and laughing at them.

second half of 2011 run revealed:
    Episode 8: Let's Kill Hitler
    Written by Steven Moffat
The gang's all back! The Doctor, Amy, River and Rory return in what promises to be an action-packed belter of an adventure. So far the following details have emerged:'In the desperate search for Melody Pond, the TARDIS crash lands in 1930s Berlin, bringing the Doctor face to face with the greatest war criminal in the Universe. And Hitler. The Doctor must teach his adversaries that time travel has responsibilities - and in so doing, learns a harsh lesson in the cruellest warfare of all.' We also know it features Albert Welling as Hitler and is directed by Richard Senior, previously at the helm for Time and Space plus the Doctor Who pre-title sequence for this year's NTA awards.

    Episode 9: Night Terrors
    Written by Mark Gatiss
Mark Gatiss has previously written spooky episodes including The Unquiet Dead and The Idiot's Lantern, but he promises that Night Terrors features some of the scariest moments he's ever dreamt up! The adventure has a modern day setting and features a little boy who has a fear of something... Can the Doctor help him?

Episode 10: The Girl Who Waited
    Written by Tom MacRae
Tom MacRae's previous credits include The Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel plus the critically acclaimed The Crash of the Elysium. This is his first television adventure for the Eleventh Doctor and it's directed by Nick Hurran who was recently at the helm for the updated version of the cult classic, The Prisoner.

    Episode 11: The God Complex
    Written by Toby Whithouse
We know the adventure is set in a hotel and features an alien called Gibbis played by David Walliams. Again, the episode is directed by Nick Hurran and as writer Toby Whithouse was behind School Reunion and The Vampires of Venice, we know we've got something special to look forward to!

    Episode 12
    Written by Gareth Roberts
Craig Owens is back! The popular character from last year's The Lodger returns and judging from the trailer for eps 8-13 he's getting closer than ever to the Doctor! The adventure is written by Gareth Roberts whose credits include Attack of the Graske, The Unicorn and the Wasp and, of course, The Lodger.

    Episode 13
    Written by Steven Moffat
The big finale! This one remains shrouded in mystery but Karen Gillan has promised us that the series will contain 'possibly the biggest twist so far'... Is it possible that this is the adventure that delivers it? Steven Moffat penned last year's incredible finale but it's probable that this adventure will conclude the series with a bigger bang than ever!

now thats from the offical site, not making anything up, although it looks like the Gatiss episode has moved up a little bit.

At long last the Deserted Hotel setting :D, previously was the initial idea for Planet of The Dead, Waters of Mars, and The End of Time.

proof that you cant keep a good idea down, even if its not Gareth Roberts who ended up writing it.

The main bits I got from the clip

    BgsQ6.png

Does 11 mean anything? Will need to watch back over all eps to see if it's anywhere else?

    GA7LN.png

Who is she and what is her link to the Silence ?

    7sEWd.png

Is River and the Eye-Patch Lady the same person but from different timelines or is the eye-patch used to cover up a speical power like the guy in Farscape ?

Also are the tomb in the backround the same as the one from the Gallery with the two versions of Amy ?

    2T8gi.png

Did the Doctor Who is once Death Date was so soon before or after Amy told him when she thought he was the Flash clone?

It would be pretty cool if it constantly transmitted an image of the Silence so that they couldn't forget.

The whole deal about the Silence is that you are meant to forget them. They've been getting humans to do stuff for them for a long long time while not exactly realising why ie forgetting the Silence. I think it's a different evil behind Kovarian.

I also have a feeling that the Silence aren't as evil as we are meant to believe.

i think so too, remember that the voice in the tardis kept saying the pandorica will open and silence will fall. Well, it opened and they did fall. So, perhaps it was not a good thing that they fell, and they were preventing a greater evil.

In the end, the voice in the tardis belonged to some disembodied fan giving away spoilers.

One thing i like about madam kovarian and the priest soldiers is that, for once, we have a good human villan against the doctor. been a while.

I don't think we know what the disembodied voice is yet, but should find out. I vaguely recall someone saying it wouldn't be til season 6 til we found out- didn't it also try to destroy the tardis in season 5?

im glad to see the silence back. they were a great villian and I thought they were dealt with all too quickly

    Lake Silencio?

    Has that been mentioned before?

22nd April 2011 was the date The Impossible Astronaut Aired in the UK.

Same trick used last year for Amy's Wedding/Big Bang/Pandorica

It may be a week after the fact, but worth pointing out as it hadn't been yet mentioned here: River Song and Kovarian weren't the only eye-patched people in the trailer. There was also this fellow below (0:32 in). It's the same type of patch as well, so I think there's a strong chance of some significance to it all:

You could have pointed out that if they want to be dicks about it it's technically series 32 continuation. :pac:

So if I have this correct. First there was season 1 through 26. Then the film. Then series 1 through 4. Then series fnarg and now we're on series um.

    Right?

Lots of shots from "Let's Kill Hitler" have been released; some of them are a wee bit spoiler'y (visually anyway), so you have been warned:
    http://www.denofgeek.com/television/1019538/doctor_who_series_6_lots_of_pictures_from_lets_kill_hitler.html

I didn't put them in the dedicated episode thread as I figured it might be better here, rather than the place for discussion about the ep itself :)
