Last weekend my electric window decided to pack in.Beforehand it was giving a very annoying screeching noise every time it went up or down.I brought it to a guy whos actually a panelbeater and he had to take the whole inside panel off and what a job that was.Seems i now need a new window regulator and its going to cost 119euros.Heard its a very fidgedy job to install.Anyone here ever had similiar problems?

    Common enough problem alright.

I posted about it here only a few weeks ago

Must be something in the air, mine has just packed in as well on a 08 Altea XL, drivers side window. Same thing as the oP, screeching first and then it seemed to just detach. Balls.

Most VAG cars have this problem. My audi failed at just over 2 year old. No advance warning just cable started to make the tearing sound on the way down and couldnt be put up again.
It wasnt a difficult job on my car. Some of the VAG cars have a rivoted panel to drill off and replace. Thats a bit of a pain but not a tricky job.

I'm going to give it a bash tomorrow, did a similar fix on my old Nissan may times. Hopefully this works, if not I suppose I will have to bring to a main dealer :uh oh

Sorry I haven't got round to it yet, although I did find this video online which seems to show it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pgrf44MynM
