    Hi all,
I have a quick question. This morning coming out the n32 i think it is from the airport Hilton toward Bewleys, on that long stretch there was a garda car parked, one gard using a speed gun and the other talking to a pulled over car. Now me and every car in front of me was speeding. So my question is, do they pull over cars or does everyone clocked on that speed gun automatically get a ticket?

Yeah bus lane is out of service - there is a sign up. Ticket will be in the post! They often sit there - its a 60 road I think and the speed some feckers get up to is amazing!

How is it amazing? It's a wide stretch of tarmac'd road with a very low speed limit?

The only thing causing a hindrance is the inappropriate speed limit

EDIT: Sorry wrong road in mind...

Never said you were. Bus lane is not a bus lane anymore so its your speed he was clocking.

I passed them this morning myself. There was a jeep infront of me and we were both doing at least 70kph. Not sure if i got caught with the gun but i would imagine the driver of the jeep did.

    I wouldn't worry people.

If you weren't pulled in and they were using the gun you haven't gotten a ticket. Now if there was a big feck off camera there too then yes you have a ticket.

The reason for such low speed limit is because local 'residents' fly out of side roads in Hi-Ace and Transit vans and the children often run across the N32 to check on their horses across the road.

The road markings should have been removed when the bus lane was got rid of. However this is Ireland.
I use that road every day and people constantly speed past exceeding the 60KPH limit. The funny thing was that this morning everyone seemed to be at travelling at 60. Then I saw the cop in his usual place and all made sense. Immediatly after they pass the camera they were all off at 80+ even tho the section of road is still at 60 KPH limit.

In all my years using that road I never witnessed children running across the road to check horses. People are entitled to pull out in hiaces, vans, etc from approved roads so other than naked prejudice I dont know what your point is. The 60KPH is there because it is a residential and commercial area.

Some one saw sense at last and realised there was little point in having a bus lane on a road that has no bus route, and it only took them a few years .:)

Sorry, I must be imagining things then despite using this road up to 6/8 times some days. Maybe they were checking for a 'high horse':)

well i have seen people bringing horses across that road. so bottom line is that unless there was a speed camera unit there then the only tickets issued were to people actually pulled over by the gards?

I think they can justify having regular speed checks there as a child from the campsite was killed there a few years ago. Also horses and vans do suddenly appear there also.Be aware that motorists who speed up after passing the speed check may still be caught. I encountered one there a few weeks ago early on Sunday morning. As soon as I passed the Garda he swung around and pointed his device towards the rear of the cars that had just passed. On a related topic does anyone know if they are using Gatso vans to detect bus lane offences now? There was one parked on the Malahide Road near the turnoff for Coolock Garda Station/Cadburys yesterday evening about 4.30pm. Traffic would have been too heavy for speeding but a number of cars would have been photographed in the bus lane.
