My daughter is away in Peru, and was just in contact. Seems she had her SD card wiped blank by a computer in an internet cafe. Shows blank on both Pc and her camera.
I advised her to not use the card, get a new one, and see if items could be recovered back in Dublin. She especially wants to save videos clips she had taken.

Can someone steer me in the direction of recovery services in Dublin, please? Any idea on cost, etc?

    TIA

Recovering data can be very, very costly and is a much trickier affair with flash memory than it would be on say a Windows PC. I've seen prices as high as €700 to recover data from a 3.5" drive.

It baffles me that people don't just type the same query into google - it's pretty much foolproof at this point.

There are some very good free software for recovering deleted files from various types of camera cards. I use RECUVA and also PC Inspector.

Thanks to all who gave advice and suggestions. Will look into them, maybe try out some on an old SD card before she returns and take it from there.
