Facebook separating content by Friends list

    Hey Guys

I am new to facebook and have spent more hours than i care to admit searching for an answer to this question - I can not find it anywhere. So hope you guys can give me an answer one way or the other.

Basically i have very separate groups of friends and work colleagues. I have set up friends lists to divide these groups up. I dont want any one group to see my interactions with another group or any groups interaction with me.

I have hid many features - so none of my friends can see any of my friends and this is ok. But I can not figure a solution to the wall. I do not want to block it but i dont want posts made on my wall to be seen by all my friends, I only want the group of where the post came from to see it. Ideally i would like this for all settings.

I know this sounds like i should set up two facebook pages but i dont want to do this as there are many photos i will share with everyone. I just dont want my parents or colleagues knowing i am deliberately hiding from them!!!

    Hope you can help

    For your wall:
Each time you write something on your wall a Pad lock will show next to your share button, click the pad, chose customise. You have 2 options, you can use one or both:

    1) Make this available to: choose specific people, then enter the first initial of one of your lists or of someone's name in the text box
    2) exclude from ... again enter the first initial of a friend list or friend

There is never a need to create 2 profiles if you know how to use Facebook.
    Enjoy :)

Never realised either you could put lists onto that customisation. There'll be no shutting me up now!

    Hi IrishCalypso

    Thaks for your help.

But what about when my friends write on my wall. Everyone in every friend list is able to see it unless i block some people and then they can not see their own posts.

What is the point in hiding your friends if they can just be seen by everyone when they post on your wall?? Who ever follows the link has access to many photos i dont want my work colleagues to see!!.

In your privacy settings - customise: "Things I share" - and "Things others share", you can exclude a list so they won't see posts, photos, etc.....

If you want to change it for a particular post the padlock option over-rides the privacy settings.

Will this not prevent people from seeing their own posts on my wall??

Honestly i think facebook could make this easier.

I simply want to keep good friends, acquaintances, work and family completely seperate. Another example someone like something on my wall. Even though i thought only i could see this as i have this option selected others saw it and followed to one of my less private concious friends!!
