Getting to Tallaght from Finglas/Collins Avenue/Collinswood

I'm looking to start a course, but it is pretty far from where I live. I dropped into Dublin Bus today to ask if there was a single bus that would get me to Tallaght from Finglas/Collins Avenue/Collinswood, but I was told there was not. I'm just wondering if thats not entirely accurate (long shot I know :) ) and if I walked a certain distance away from where I live (the collins avenue/collinswood area) I could get a direct bus to Tallaght. It doesn't have to be a bus or anything, but I guess thats the only option, unless theres some kind of coach I could get?

    Any help would be appreciated.

you'd be walking a long way to get a direct bus to Tallaght.

you could get a bus to the airport and then switch but it would be very expensive. your best bet is to get a bus into town and then switch to one of the tallaght buses or get on the luas.

if you don't get a student travelcard your best bet would be to use travel90 tickets as 1 ticket would get you to tallaght (if you board the second bus within 90 minutes of boarding the first bus) for €1.90 (ten travel90s cost €19).

    No direct bus.

You can take a 20b from Collins Avenue or any bus on the Swords Road to the city and then if you are going to the Square then either the 54a, 65, 65b or 77 are the best options. The first three can be picked up on Eden Quay or College Green and the 77 from College Street.

Don't forget the Travel 90 10 Journey Ticket (costs EUR 19) which will allow you to do the each entire trip from Collins Avenue to Tallaght for EUR 1.90. provided you board the second bus within 90 minutes of the first. You can get it at any Dublin Bus ticket agent.

Oh dear. The other alternative in Loughlinstown :D Anyone know how long that takes? Is there a bus from the city centre, or is it possible to get the dart there?

Loughlinstown - either the 145 from D'Olier Street or Nassau Street or the 7 from O'Connell Street.

You're looking at about 35-40 minutes on the 145 and probably 50-55 on the 7. If its the FAS centre, the 7 will drop you outside, while the 145 will leave you about 10-15 minutes walk away at Cherrywood.
