I have an AIB ACCUMULATOR FUND which matures in 2016. I put 15,000 hard earned money in there for kids college fund. I have 5 kids and one income, my husband is unemployed and this money is absolutely vital to me. The literature on the fund told me I would get my initial investment back guaranteed. Can anyone tell me if I will see my money again. I hear that AIB has defaulted, what does this mean for my money, is it safe and what happens it if country defaults. I have no idea of money matters, just simple housewife doing my best for children.

AIB is still there. Calm down.

Hopefully by 2016 all this silliness will have blown over and you'll make a profit.

Well I do hope so. It's just I read an article about AIB defaulting last week and I got worried. I have never heard a peep from AIB since the day I invested. I would have thought I'd have had a yearly statement or something to the effect, no correspondence whatsoever. It's Ark Life, I believe who are heading AIB Accumulator Fund, are they safe.

I believe Ark Life are owned by Hibernian Group/Aviva which is one of the UKs biggest insurers. Should also be OK.
