Wanting decent beard

What is the best way to get a decent beard, i like mine when it's between 5-20 days growth, then it becomes to furry, i dont like myself clean shavin i look better with a bit of growth, ive never tried an electric razor will one of there leave me with nice beard What are my options ?

Get a beard trimmer and give it a trim once a week.
