Just wondering does anybody know what happens if a garda catches you committing an offence, takes your name and address but then you never hear from them again i.e no summons or anything. Are they just scaring you or do they keep a record of this which can then be viewed as part of a background check by immigration etc.?

Define never?? Some times it can take a few months for the summons/notice to come through.

After eight years I'd have forgotten about it. I'm assuming that you have no conviction from it, so it's unlikely that a name and address in a notebook would have any impact on a check.

Ya, wasn't arrested or convicted but i thought they record everything on their pulse system. I also thought that if you're caught doing something there would be a follow up if they were to follow procedure
