It's not meant to.. It's to give a little context. If you can afford a laptop to be a bitch on, life's ok.

By that logic, showing someone a photo of a starving black baby is response to any discussion or debate you don't like, because its not "in context".

Of course there are people a lot worse off than us, and we're better off than most, but that doesn't mean we cannot discuss the fúcked up situation in out own country.

I'm very sorry for those in Somalia, but I don't live there. I live in Ireland.

    Deposit Interest Retention Tax

Financial service providers such as banks, building societies and post offices, offer accounts where you can save a sum of money (a deposit) for which they will pay you an annual rate of interest in return, usually as a percentage of the deposit.

The interest you receive is subject to a tax called Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT).
From 1 January 2011, DIRT is charged at 27% (was 25%) for payments made annually or more frequently. The tax is deducted by the bank or other deposit-taker before the interest is paid to you. DIRT will be charged at 30% for payments made less frequently.

If you request it, you are entitled to be given a statement of the amount of DIRT deducted from your interest.

You do not have to pay any further tax on the interest but it is declared as income if you are making a tax return.

If you think people should be happy just because they aren't starving, may I politely suggest raising your standards.

And a prior warning for your needlessly graphic and upsetting images would be nice too please

Cos it's a tax on stupid people.

Moving money from working class areas (where tickets are mainly sold) to fund golf clubs and the like (where ticket sales are the lowest).

DIRT tax, well named sneaky pukes tax that takes away a quarter of the money you earn on the savings they were not able to appropriate from you by any other dreamt up means. Actually the OP's list is waaaay to short and if you wanted to, you could fill page after page with the ways they dream up to tax ordinary people so they can keep their fat cat salaries and lives. And it is just for the ordinary people, because the rich can and very much do, avoid it.
