Defer first year

I am sorry if this has been asked already but I could only find posts by existing DIT students.

I am waiting to see if I have a place in DIT but it may be a case I won't be able to do the course this year due to personal circumstances.
I know it may be a little presumptuous of me to think I will even get a place but I just want to know what my options are.

I found this article on deferrals. I hope it's of use. The best thing to do I'd say is to call the School in question if/when you get the course points.

If you applied through the CAO, make sure you actually accept the place first. Then you can defer it afterwards. If you don't accept it you won't be able to defer.

Theres info here on how to defer:

    Don't do this.
As soon as you get the offer write to the DIT admissions office requesting a deferral and a brief explanation why. Don't accept the offer. They'll write to you approving or denying your request. You'll then need to apply to the CAO next year, and send last year's and this year's CAO numbers to DIT when you receive them (assuming deferral was granted). You'll then receive your offer in June.
I did this last year and I now have my place waiting for me this September.

I followed the instructions on this page:

Good luck. What course did you apply for by the way? If you don't mind my asking.
