Bills

Did anyone else receive their ESB bill? I am extremely conscious of keeping bills to a minimum. I only have one bill that is the ESB and I do my best to keep it as low as possible.

I received my bill today and it comes up to 56 euro and a couple of cents for the electricity usage. Which is good going for two months. However I am required to pay up an extra 36 euro and a couple of cents in standing charges, levy and VAT. So the entire amount to pay comes up to 96 euro roughly.

Absolutely maddening. How is everyone else getting on with bills?

My two-monthly bills usually come in around €165 - €185.

Prices are increasing again soon as well.

Yep, got a visa bill of €6430.00, that'll put the €56 into perspective. ESB is €200 a month, more in winter. How the feck can you use so little???

How in the holy name of god can they justify price increases?

As far as I'm aware, it's just Bord Gais raising their electricity prices. They are raising them by 12 % as and from August 1st.

They are justifying it by saying there's been an inrease in wholesale prices - the usual sh!te.

My college house where there were 6 of us got bills around the 60 euro mark. 6 people who always cooked seperately and all had tvs and laptops going all day long 5 days a week.
Where as my parents who do feck all but watch tv somehow get 200 euro bills every time (for the same sized house)
