    Hi

Long story short, insured with Axa for about 3 years. Just moved to Tesco car insurance.

Tesco want a copy of my licence and proof of no claims bonus with Axa. Cover only stopped with Axa this week.

Gave Axa a call looking to email or post me a letter to this affect, they said it would cost me €15!!!!!! W.....T....F?

Count yourself lucky, they were asking for 20 each for me and the OH's letters.
Its only a few lines on the page too.

Should be on the back on your axa renewal quote if you still have it.

There is no way in hell I'd pay that. That's ridiculous.

If I were you I'd take a trip to the nearest AXA office, ask for it in person and I wouldn't leave until I got it, if you kick up a fuss then trust me they'll do it just to get rid of you.

Check your Axa renewal quote. It should be there.

Yeah, they are probably just charging you for a duplicate.

    Thanks for the replies,

im 99% sure the renewal quote went into the green bin, but ill check

Still regardless I gave them like €700 every year for 3 years now they wont print me an a4 page with a few lines on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,610 ✭✭✭Padraig Mor

Well if you threw it in the bin, tough **** TBH.

Why would any company give you a document for free, that they've already given you once (for free), when all you're going to do is use that document to take your business elsewhere?
    I'm surprised it's only 15 euro tbh.

And in exchange for the €700 a year they gave you insurance cover.

Depending where you live, I can get cheaper insurance at AXA for a bottle of Jameson :D

1 - It was not I that threw it in the bin
Appreciate the "tough **** TBH" reply, really ever so helpful*

2 - By not helping a former customer of 3 years by re-printing my NCB leaves a sour taste, making me not want to return to axa ever again.

    Will take MagicMarker's advice

    EDIT:
a €15 admin fee to reprint a document is a rip off!
Anyone who think otherwise needs their head checked.

    *sarcasm

You can write a letter of complaint. AXA wants to provide you with the best service. It's not their fault some eejit works there.

I might, will call again after a while.
€15 to reprint a document is out of this world!

So at your next renewal, if Axa are a hundred quid cheaper than the next company, you'd refuse to go back to them on principle?:D

Alright, I'll stop winding you up now...

In all seriousness, it probably costs AXA about a tenner to reissue an NCB letter even if it's only a 5-minute job for someone, when you take into account staff time, stationery, printing & postage. So I can see why they're not doing it for free.

It's €12 for a replacement VLC, and the guts of €100 for a replacement Vin sticker.

If you put a monetary value on your time spent posting here it'd be €15 by now maybe?

So in theory it should cost me a few euro if I were to go into the shop and collect it?

Call and ask them to send you a new quote. Then the information you need is on the back once more.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

Same with banks realy. You get a statement for free. If you throw that away and then ask for a duplicate it can be a euro per page to get a new copy.
Now this is almost always waived if you're a local and the staff know you but it's there.

€20 is a lot but they are right to charge something. It takes staff time and expense
And that staff member might be better used working the phones and cutting the backlog instead of printing duplicate letters
Just how management would see it

With bank statements you can print them off online yourself and you bring them into the bank to get stamped and signed. No cost.

Do you have an Axa online profile?
If so, you can download a new NCB cert from the "Important Documents" are in the Renewals section.

Axa are pure and utter scumbags don't give them a penny mate, ring em up again and ask when is the insurance out that you never received the renewal notification and for them to send it out to you.

How can I see what information a body or company holds about me?

Under Section 3 of the Data Protection Acts, you have a right to find out, free of charge, if a person (an individual or an organisation) holds information about you. You also have a right to be given a description of the information and to be told the purpose(s) for holding your information.

You must make the request in writing. The person must send you the information within 21 days.

Under Section 4 of the Data Protection Acts, you also have a right to get a copy of your personal information. This applies to all types of information -for example, written details about you held electronically or on paper, photographs and CCTV images. You are also entitled to know where the information was obtained, how it has been used and if it has been passed on to anyone else. All you need do is write to the person or organisation holding the information. You need not quote the Data Protection Acts, but it is a good idea to do so. Your letter might read something like:

    Dear ...
I wish to make an access request under the Data Protection Acts 1988 and 2003 for a copy of any information you keep about me, on computer or in manual form. I am making this request under section 4 of the Data Protection Acts.

You should also include any additional details that would help to locate your information - for example, a customer account number or staff number. You may be asked for evidence of your identity. This is to make sure that personal information is not given to the wrong person. When requesting some types of record, such as credit history or Garda records, it may also be useful to provide a list of previous addresses, previous names and your date of birth. You may be asked to pay a fee, but this cannot exceed €6.35.

Once you have made your request, and paid any appropriate fee, you must be given the information within 40 days (most organisations manage to reply much sooner).

Might be the easier route to go. Will get their backs up at least, which is a bonus.

Its standard procedure for alot/most of insurers to charge for duplicate documents, particularly if the items have to be on headed/watermarked paper.

You got them all in the post but binned them,it is your own fault in fairness.

    15 quid for this proof
It's 40 quid in Quinn Direct - I can get you a whole list of those expenses at different insurers.
