Recommend a fertility clinic?

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a fertility clinic from personal experience? I live in the Dublin area. I've been ttc for 18 months now (losing count!). I've been to my GP, but I'm not entirely satisfied with his approach. Hubby has had SA which was fine. I've had 21 day bloods (told I don't need day 3:confused:) and had an external ultrasound - all fine. GP put me on Clomid (although I am ovulating) but no monitoring was suggested. Also the Clomid was prescribed for the wrong days (in my opinion!) I feel I would get answers if I went to a specialist. Would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Shuvvy, I did two IVF cycles with Sims, IMO they are the best fertility clinic in Dublin. There is a bit of a waiting list but not too bad I don't think, and if you say you will take a cancellation, you should get in quickly enough.

Hi I can highly recommend The Clane Fertility Clinic, its just down the M4, the place is gorgeous and no waiting the staff are all amazing too and reasonably priced.
I tried the Hari in the Rotunda and I was waiting for nearly an hour had to walk through a carpark full of puddles in the lashing rain too , I paid €180 to the doctor who didnt do a thing, he started saying he needed to order blood tests to check for PCOS and I said I DO have PCOS, I had to explain to him that I was asked to forward my blood and ultrasound results to them to get the appointment, he eventually found them in my file and hadnt even looked at them  then he started asking how much we earned  and when I told him everything he said oh Im going to refer you to the public fertilty clinic you will get an appointment in the post. I was shocked! Obviously I knew how much private fertilty treatment was! we had the money in the bank! He took my €180 that day for 5 mins of bull , I later got an appointment for a year later in the public clinic!
I decided to try the Clane fertility clinic as it was closer and they seemed great, they got the ball rolling straight away and my first provera/clomid cycle I conceived Twins! Due in Feb 2012 when I would only be having my public appointment in the rotunda which is a dive compared to the Clane clinic, I cant recommend them enough xxx

We used the Retunda recently and had the very same experience. There was a over whelming feeling of money grabbing. The doctor seemed indifferent to us and hadn't even read the referral notes from our doctor. We have since changed to Kilkenny, and find it a much better experience, so far.

We're attending Hari at the moment and I have to say so far we're happy enough. We haven't had that sense of money grabbing at all and I feel very comfortable dealing with Dr Mocanu. Having said that we are still early in the process...just recently on meds and still getting scans done. Next step if this cycle doesn't work is laparoscopy.

My biggest problem with the rotunda is seeing heavily pregnant women outside smoking like troopers! I just want to go up and shake them and ask them do they not realise how bloody lucky they are!

sorry just forgot to add that parking in rotunda is quite expensive and not nearly enough spaces.
Clane has a nice big carpark which has plenty of spaces everytime :)
oh and they have plenty of free tea/coffee and biccies! XXX

We visited Sims fir a consultation and fond them to be more concerned with selling to us than being care providers. I explained we did want ti sign up for anything on that day but wanted to see what they would do different to the Merrion but we still felt pressured to make appointments for tests immediately, we didn't and felt they were very put out.
We found the Merrion great and conceived on try 3 of iui but unfortunately lost. Since then it appears conception isn't the issue so no longer attend. I would recommend the Merrion Clinic.

hi shuvvy. i would try and avoid the sims if at all possible.in our personal opinion they were/are just a money making racket. if you do decide to enquire please dont make any commitments and most importantly please read their fine print especially on refunds. to cut a long story short .after alot of expense and visits etc they tried egg retrieval on my wife. it didn't happen because she couldn't produce eggs. if they had done their homework properly they would've known this before the procedure started.
i cant comment on other fertility clinics in ireland as we went to spain for our second try which resulted in the other half now being pregnant with twins. i would seriously do my homework before committing myself if i were you.
the other half has just said the merrion fertility clinic which is a non profitable organisation.

    Hey there Doubletrouble & congrats!!!

This is off topic but let me get this story straight - no eggs retreived at SIMs & now preg with twins from Spanish Clinic. Did you do own eggs?
I ask because I'm a low ovarian reserve case. A measly two eggs extracted last time round - if your situation is similar to mine could you recommend the Spanish clinic?
So happy to hear your news.
