Plant Id needed

Hi guys,Ihave this plant growing in the garden and its seems to be very quick growing and has reached about 2 metres now so i cut it back today and id say its just some wild weed but would like to be able to have some defence ready for when the wife notices it missing as she thinks its going to flower sometime soon with a big red bloom,if anyone has any ideas as to an id that would be great,regards

It should do no harm to cut it back now, can grow like crazy,will put on growth now to flower next summer, looks like it had allready flowered re.pic 2.

thanks mountainy man,if it bloomed already i must have missed it,its in the garden about 3 years now and their was no colour out of it really and was getting very invasive and taking over a raised bed,i might find something else for that spot,cheers
