    Hello,
I am in full time employment and I've just been informed by my accounts department that my holidays are Pro-Rata. I was never informed of this when signing a contract, is it possible for them to do this when i'm in full time employment. I booked my holidays in Jan and was only informed today, can anyone tell me if this is standard practice or even legal?

    Thank You.

    ???

pro rata means that you get 20 days a year for example divided by 12 months so 1.6 days per month.

if you work 6 months and leave then your entitled to 6 x 1.6 days holiday pay, u hardly expect to get the full ammount if you were leaving

Sorry i dont know whether i worded this correctly or not.

I am taking holidays at the 28th of July for 2 weeks which i booked in January, my employer has only come to me now 1 week before my holidays to inform me i have not accumulated enough holidays to be paid the full 2 weeks. They never stipulated in my contract that i have to work these holidays up, if they do not inform me of this should i be under the assumption that i can take my holidays during the holiday period and work them off over the course of the year.

Op, that's like arguing you should get your salary all at once and work it back during the year.

I think you should just appeal to your employer and hope for the best, alternatively ask can you take the time as unpaid leave.
