I just got a letter from optilase telling me that although a previous test proved me not to be a suitable candidate for laser surgery they can now over me Intra Ocular Lens surgery. What exactly is it? Anyone got it done?

Yes,you get a new lens when you get a cataract removed.
I had it done last year.
A slit is made at the outer end of the eye and the flexible lens is rolled and inserted--it opens out when it has gone in.
The tiny cut heals on its own-no sutures.
All done under local anesthetic eye drops-no pain!
However, other types are available, such as multifocal IOLs which is what you are referring to?
They provide the patient with multiple-focused vision at far and reading distance, and adaptive IOLs which provide the patient with limited visual accommodation.
You just have to take it easy for a couple of weeks post-op , not bending over or doing strenuous exercise--not doing anything to raise your blood pressure.
Hope this will help you!! :)
