Did a search on eDreams and it came up with 1,138 Euro return as the cheapest, Dublin to Heathrow to Reykjavik.

You can get from Heathrow to Reykjavik return for 384 Stg with Icelandair.

Based on end July for one week return start Aug.

It's much cheaper at off season times.

DIY trips to Iceland are never cheap.

There are 2 choices of airlines "Iceland Air" and "Iceland Express". Express is a Ryanair type no frills and Iceland Air is the national flag carrier. The web addresses are http://icelandair.co.uk and http://icelandexpress.co.uk/ To fly to Iceland, you travel to Keflavik Airport, 40 km outside Reykjavik. Personally I find that IcelandAir is better, but costs can vary a lot.

The possible routes are: Dublin to Reykjavik via either Heathrow / Gatwick / Manchester / Glasgow / Edinburgh, depending on airline and day of week.

The only direct options I know of is Wallace Travel who do 2/3 trips per year based on 3/4 night inc. hotel for about 600 which is good value.

Iceland is an amazing place. Go once and you will keep going back. My 10th trip is this August... love it

Try www.skyscanner.ie they have flights in November for just over €300 via Gatwick with Ryanair and Iceland Express. That's heading out on Thursday and back on the Monday (Nov 3-7).
You can check out the whole month flights in either October or November you might get it cheaper.

I would be wary of travelling with Iceland Express as they are notorious for cancelling flights. See reviews on www.airlinequality.com. Was in Iceland in May and the return flight was delayed by eight hours as the flight to Iceland was cancelled the previous evening so missed our connection to Dublin. Luckily we had connecting flight insurance but had to pay for overnight accommodation in London.

They're broke, we're broke why would you set up a route linking the two?

Wallace travel do a long weekend break to Iceland, using a chartered flight out of Dublin a couple of times a year around the bank holidays. I went with them during the easter bank holiday last year.

    http://www.wtg.ie/leisure_travel/unforgettable_iceland.459.html

E559pp for flights and 4 nights in hotel. The hotels nothing special but we hired a car and did our own touring for the 4 days and only needed someplace to crash in the evenings so it did the job.

Icelands nolonger as expensive as it may have been in the past, I'd compare it to being slightly more expensive then Dublin for the average goods.

It's a fantastic place, I'd recommend it to eveyone. We were touring non-stop for the 4 days and covered all the major sites in the West south-west region. Golden circle tour is a must, a Super Jeep tour to see the northern lights is also a highlight, whale watching is hit and miss, for us we just got frozen solid in the north atlantic with no site of them but it wasn;t the best time of year for it.

I'll go back again some day and travel further south to see more. There's also a day trip to Greenland you can do in summer that looks pretty cool.

Icelandair do some great packages on their website. Hotel and Flights from Glasgow for £249pps for 3 nights. Cant go wrong with that.

Is March a good time to see the Northern Lights from Iceland?

+1 to that, a wonderful country. First went in 99, been back ten times, lived there for 6 months.

Get one of the icelandair specials as above for a taster, well worth the money, and if you like it plan a longer pricier trip. And it is not as pricey as everyone complains about once you get there.

There used to be a ferry out of the shetlands, quite pricey by ferry standards but gives a lot of flexibility. I took a vehicle twice and it was well worth it. Not currently operating but keep an eye on smyrilline.com they may add it again in the future.

Was in Iceland in early Nov for Miss Gunner's Birthday went with Wallace as DIY was way to expensive

We have done all the scandic countries and Iceland is on a par with the rest, except Norway which is crazy expensive. Talked to one of the locals and they say as tourism is their major income & prices have remained the same

Did a few tours and they are still expensive. Only did the Golden Circle tour with These . Pint was about €6 in the hotel and similar around town. The Icelanders don't go out till about 11 or 12 and by that time they are well tanked up from drinking at home.

Eating was not to bad tried the Fish Company but went for the early bird your better sticking to these

Do see the Blue Lagoon well worth a visit but can be a bit expensive for treatments and books out esp at weekend so pre book any of them

Northern lights you may well or well not see depends on the weather we where unlucky

    Enjoy if going
