I have a circa 20 year old house with same age double glaze windows that are past their best in terms of seal and heat retention.

Has anyone just changed the glass in the existing window?

Is changing the entire window frame a big job?

Depends on a number of factors, Budget, Cost, and the condition of the frames.

If the windows are 20yrs old I would guess they are Aluminium, replacing the glass only, would benefit your home with better heat retention but if the frames are poor, probably not worth the effort.

Get a few quotes, for new windows, and for replacment glass, the seals will have to be replaced if you just change the glass.

No it's not a big job, the old windows will come out, small bit of damage to plasterwork, new windows fitted and plasterwork repaired.

Look for a reputable Local Co's, get references, and at least 3 prices.
