Poker Scene in Melbourne

    Hi all,

I'll be heading to Melbourne early October and I'm just wondering what the poker scene is like over there. I'd normally play twice a week just in local small tournaments (less than €50 buy-in) and maybe once a month head up to Dublin/over to England to play in bigger tournaments. The Crown Casino seems to be the best place for it and I know about the very big tournaments like the ANZPT and the Aussie Millions but do they run regular small/medium sized games every week? Is poker even popular in Oz? None of my mates in Melbourne are into poker so they don't know and I'm finding it difficult to find much info online.

    Cheers

Ya plenty of tournments in the crown alright. You should find a good few tournments in the $50-$100 region. Then of course theres also the cash games.

Cheers! Yeah I figured cash tables would be running the whole time but I prefer tournaments tbh. I found a good site last night that gives the breakdown of what they have running, plenty for me to chose from anyway. Dunno how I missed this site before!

Crown run plenty of tourneys, generall a wide price range.
There's pretty much a casinos in each of the main cities, such as Starcity in Sydney. But Crown is prob the best for tournys. I know start city have a pretty terrible schedule.

That said, the sydney championship is coming up in sepember, and it should be quite good for a week or two.
