I was wondering whats the best approach to weight training. I want to build up a bit more, not get huge just defined. At the moment im a few pounds over weight and my question is whether i sound start weight training right away with the extra few pounds on me or sound i lose the extra weight and then begin training.

start lifting weights and cutting out junk from your diet/ counting calories.

you wont get "too big" overnight i assure you, and losing excess fat and having that muscle underneath will make you look a lot better than just running and dieting.

    use this:

to calculate your daily calorie expenditure and subtract 500 to lose weight.

count your calories using fitday or livestrong's myplate.
